I have some pictures up from the cheese making class (they're on my newest blog so there's not too much on there other than cheese pics!) More to follow...

Are there any chapters close to Warren that are active? I've tried contacting 3 or 4 different groups and have received no reply.

Rosefairymom,I understand where you are coming from...I too contacted 3-4 groups that were listed withing about 45minutes to an hour away from me...that was the closest I could find, and I got no response from any of them either.I'm down near Toledo and would love to get together with other farmgirls.

cj6 - well that's a bummer. Wonder if I'd have better luck going further north towards Armada. I agree, it would be really nice to be able to get together with other farmgirls. I guess I might need to find a virtual group until I can find an active group.

Thanks for the offer Lynn but, unfortunately you are a little over two hours away from me If I lived closer that would be great...especislly since I know Michelle isn't too awful far from there in Brighton.I've seen on here just in the past year that there are some farmgirls down in my area but, though I've put out there the interest in getting together none have responded.

cvezzo -

I haven't been on for a while, just saw your post. I moved here last December. Live south of Armada, east of Romeo, west of Richmond. Nice to know another farmgirl is in the neighborhood!

Lyn - I'd be interested in attending meetings if you'd let me know when they're scheduled.

Brenda - Wow, you aren't far from me. Ray Twp has a huge 4H group that shows at the Armada Fair from what I remember. Nice to know there's some farmgirls close to me.

Happy Holidays Michigan Farmgirls! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays with friends and family! Now that things are starting to settle down (a bit:) I'm starting in on the making of the Farmgirl in the Mitten traveling apron, I think I'll just make a basic apron without any "details" on it and everyone it travels to will get to add their own special touches to it! I'll keep in touch on its progress and completion and then we'll start this apron traveling!

Another note, if any of you are out traveling during this winter wonderland we're having, we're having a Winter Community Market in Glenn to be held on January 22 & 29, February 5, 12, 19 & 26. Local vendors will be selling their baked goods, fruits, honey, cider etc. as well as work by local artists and from what I hear more! I'll be there with my aprons, market bags and what nots so if you're in the neighborhood stop on in or send me an email so I can look for you coming! I know for sure I will be there January 22 & 29 and still need to go over my dates for February!

Hugs to all!!

Does anybody get together for winter outings at all? I'd love to learn to snowshoe which got me thinking it might be a great outdoor outing for a bunch of us. I need some type of exercise for me that I can take the furkids with and get some poundage off of them too.

Well ladies...it's been ever so long since I've been on the website. I'm on just in time though to let all you southeastern farmgirls there is an event happening at the Lake Erie metropark this weekend. Go to http://www.metroparks.com/parks/index_all.aspx?ID=7 for info. Click on the flier pdf for all the details. Daily from 10-5pm music, make and take projects for the kids, spinning and weaving, sled dogs, tundra swan trek, and of course hot chocolate and other yummies, oh and ice fishing...and a bunch of other fun things to do too. If I am feeling better...I'm coming down on Saturday with my 10 year old. (been under the weather this week with some gut thing...antibiotics better kick in soon...) But it seems some of the chat recently has been about you all "down east" needing something to do and a place to meet and greet. Might be your chance! Have fun!

hmm. I thought I posted a bit about the Wolcott Mill Farm Metropark event on March 26, but I am not seeing it here..

Ray Township, just south of Armada, east of Romeo. March 26 is the annual sheep shearing. I will be there demonstrating wool-spinning.

I say Wool-spinning because I posted last year on Facebook that I was demonstrating spinning and an old friend from high school thought I meant "exercise cycle" -- not quite the same thing...

Here is a link to the Wolcott Mill Metropark web site

http://www.metroparks.com/calendar_item.aspx?ID=212

There are a lot of events going on, it is only a few miles from my house and I am a volunteer, but since I work full-time can't do as much as I would like.

Feel free to explore the web site for other activities that are farm-related.

Rosefairiemom,

I don't formally teach, I only demonstrate a couple of times a year at the Mill. Maybe when I retire. One of the other demonstrators lives in Armada, and she DOES teach, I think. She does spinning as a business for some local sheep growers. Come on out to the mill on the 26th and say hello!

Jen, glad to hear there are some other farmgirls in my neighborhhood! Sounds like you have quite a few livestock! If you have a chance stop by and say hello on the 26th too!
