As I get closer to 70 in a few more years I have been thinking of all my wonderful Farmgirl Sisters and friends in there 70’s and 80’s. The Wisdom they have, the stories and memories they have to share, I want to hear their stories and listen to any memories and wisdom they want to share with all of us. How special will it be to get to know these wonderful women so much better. In our Wildflower HH we have a very special older lady who has been sharing her stories with me and others for years. I told her she needs to write her memories and stories down in a journal now to share with family and friends later. She told me she did not think anyone would be interested. I told her gently that I thought she was wrong as I want to hear about her life and I know others will too. It is important, it is history, it is love, it is caring all rolled in to one.
So, please all of us 60 and over share your stories with us, I for one want to hear them. I will never be too old to learn something new and offer any wisdom you have.
Then here it will be in MaryJanes History for others to read for years to come.
Thank you Beautiful Ladies.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

I saw one today while we were doing yard work. I was so excited to see it I almost trampled the flowers I just finished planting when I turned to go tell JT. So glad I didn't.

I have only seen Cedar waxwings once in my life and that was over 25 years ago. When I stayed home with my son, he was about three years old. We were lucky enough to have them stop at our house during their migration. There were hundreds of them on our Holly bushes, and they wiped out every berry on the bushes in just a few hours!

We used to have cedar waxwings twice a year on their annual migrations. Unfortunately bird flu took its toll on our birds. I no longer see many of the smaller birds, just an occasional English sparrow, and our magpies are gone. I see a robin or two when the white mulberry is fruiting. Luckily we still have a pair of scrub jays, a mockingbird, and the crows visit in the spring and summer. Up in the hills at our trailer we still have several varieties of finches and many hummingbirds. My daughter lives on the other side of the Sierras and still has lots of magpies.

We have the Cedar Wax wing here in Ohio year round. We love to see bluebirds too but haven't seen many this year.

Wanda that is a beautiful bird, the painted bunting. We don't get those up this way. I saw a Red Tanager twice, and they are a pretty bird too. My favorite bird to spot is the Cedar Wax Wing. Along with Blue Birds and Indigo Bunting.

Oh my goodness what a Beautiful bird the Painted Bunting is. I have never seen one either but I hope I will one day. I love the Cardinal such a beautiful, majestic bird, but I have not seen one in well over 30 years, growing up in Missouri we saw them all the time I sure miss them. We have some beautiful birds here on the coast but it is the pretty Robins that are here all year long and have lots of babies. They go back year after year to the nest they built in the tree in front of our picture window. Just love them.

Wanda, it's beautifully, thanks for sharing with us. After I posted this morning I saw a very young female cardinal. I have now seen three generations of cardinals this week. A mature pair; young pair; and now a younger female. I wonder if she was hatched in late winter or early spring. I have also seen a pair of mature bluejays on my front porch. They visit there now and then.

The painted Bunting, isn’t it beautiful? Courtesy of my neighbor, my picture was a little fuzzy. She saw it the same day as me last summer. Neither of us has seen it since.

We have loads of wrens. I haven't seen but one bluejay and lots of robins. I love bird watching. There is a little wren who sits on the deck railing outside the kitchen window. I don't know if he's entertaining me or I am entertaining him!

Denise, like you I haven't seen one. In the last several days I have seen a young brown thrasher looking for insects by my deck. A young male cardinal on the tree outside my kitchen window, he stayed there for about a minute than flew off. I have seen robins, bluejays, cardinals, and brown thrashers splashing in the birdbath. Smaller birds like wrens and sparrows like to drink and splash in Annie's water bowl on the deck.

I have never sent a painted bunting. We have see lots of cardinals and tons of Goldfinch this year. In the two years we've been here we haven't had many Goldfinch. I must have hit on a favorite for them in the feeder this year.
Good luck with your greenhouse Debbie!

Good morning Tara, I have seen a painted Bunting twice at Huntington Beach State Park. They have a feeder outside of their Nature Center, and we were watching from inside the large bay window. That was several years ago. Then last summer we saw one at our house feeding station outside our kitchen window. Only once though. If I can find the picture I will post.

I happened to be looking at bird feeder. I saw my 1rst Summer Tanager of the year! Look at this bord online. I have old bird guide books that were my Dad's. I keep them on coffee table.
If you have ever seen a male Painted Bunting, let me know where. This bird sings but I can't see him in our thick forest. Last time I saw a Painted Bunting was in the 70's.

Today's good mood brought to you by a lot of coffee!!!

Happy to report the turtle has escaped my back yard for the side yard and is now safely out of Annie's reach. I watched as it scurried under the gate to the side yard. Yes, turtles scurry in their own way. Just hope it stays out of the street.

I had to laugh Sara that you are rolling your hair again as you are letting h it getting longer. I remember the good old days of rolling my hair for school then sleeping with them. However did we do that? Thanks for the memory.
It’s a beautiful sunny day here today so we will put up my small greenhouse I got for Mothers Day. Early I know but it was on sale. I have never had a greenhouse before so I am excited. Going tomorrow to get plants of fruit, vegies and flowers. I will let you know how it works out.
Have a Blessed Monday.

It's been weeks since anyone has posted so I thought I would post a random thought or two.

The only exciting thing around here and it isn't really that exciting is a turtle has found its way into my small backyard and is driving Annie bonkers. Annie barks at it but makes no attempts to challenge it, maybe she thinks it's a snapping turtle.

I'm letting my hair grow, so now I am rolling my hair after my shower. Hadn't had a roller in my hair for over 50 years. Times change and what I thought I would never do again I find myself doing it.

I don't even know how th April fools nonsense started. We're getting ready to drive to Nevada but I'm going to edo some research on that when I return. Or maybe while driving if I can read the tiny print on the phone.

Judith, I understand how you feel about the time of year you lost your daughter. My only child, my son, passed on July 4, 2017. The 4th is not the same for me anymore.

My sister dropped by with two of her great-grandsons who are in the 4th and 5th grades. I asked them about April Fool jokes, and they didn't know what I was talking about.

Today is April 1st and I remember wanting to be the first one to pull an April Fool's joke at school. Fast forward to some 70 years later and I can't think of a single April Fool's joke I want to pull on someone. April Fool's must be for the young though I don't know if it's a big thing anymore. I would hate to think another thing from my youth has gone by the wayside.

This first day of April I celebrated by having a nice lunch on my side porch as I listened to the songbirds.
