NOTE: When you join in, please "Subscribe" to this topic so that you will receive all communication regarding the topic.

This swap involves no sewing (your project is determined by what you want to make with your fabric squares) - only buying fabric and cutting it into 10" squares. Please buy 100% cotton quilting fabric and cut off both selvage edges before cutting squares so there is NO selvage in the 10" squares. (NOTE: The selvages are the two tightly woven edges of the fabric - opposite the folded edge.)

This swap is for 10" squares of polka dot Fabrics. Each person who signs up will send 2 different 10" squares of 100% cotton polka dot fabric to each farm girl who signs up. A yard of fabric will make 12 squares (with a little left over), so the amount of fabric you will need to purchase will depend on how many sign up. Please join in - all are welcome.

Signups begin today: today, July 26
Signups end: Noon, Friday, August 18
Mail out no later than: Friday, September 1

When you sign up, please immediately send me your name/address/phone. The name/address is so I can send a complete list to each farm girl for mailing out to everyone; the phone number is only in case I need to contact you for any reason.

We have been enjoying these swaps and it is fun seeing all the different fabrics we choose. I hope you will join us.

We all like to hear from you when you send out fabric and when you receive fabric. And please post pics of what you make in the Showcase thread. You can go to the "Showcase" thread for using this link. http://maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=73817

Hood Linda. No Deborah, Ouch would not touch it. When they asked about my pain level I said 10 or 14. And I had taken one pain pill, left over from dental work.

Sweet Farmsister Marilyn,
I received your polka dot squares yesterday.
Beeeeeutiful!!!!

I had received the first set when I returned home from Kentucky. I thought when you were asking if Deborah had received her squares, I thought you were talking about another Deborah. Bless your precious heart. You sure take care of all your farmsisters. Just one of many reasons why we love you sooooo much!

Thank you again, and may the Lord bless you with a most beautiful and spirit filled day!

Many Hugs and Giggles to you dear sister!

Deborah, so sorry to hear about your Dad! I hope he is doing better now.

I wanted to thank you for sharing photos of all your envelopes and polka dots! I had forgotten how a photo of all our fabrics together makes me smile. :)

My precious farmsisters. I am so glad to be back home from Kentucky. Our three day stay turned into a 2 week stay due to my dad falling and developed what the doctors call a non-traveling blood clot in the back of his thigh. My bed felt so good! Even with all the lumps and bumps. LOL! Today is my day to catch up with all of you.

I have received polka dot squares from everyone. It is amazing how many different patterns there are of polka dots. WOWZER!!!

And I know exactly what I am going to make with them. I have polka dots in my kitchen. Each one will be a little apron that I will sting across my brick wall in my kitchen. How cute they will be.

Thank you ladies for each square of dots. They are so much fun to look at.

The first picture is one of all the mail I came home to yesterday. The second pictures are of the polka dot squares each of you selected and lovingly tucked into an envelope and sent to me.

Hugs and Giggles!!!

Here are the directions for the polka dot house blocks:
All seam allowances are Ό”. Press all seams to the darker fabric.

Cutting For each house block:
• 1 polka dot rectangle 4 ½” X 5” for the house
• 1 polka dot rectangle 2 Ύ” X 6 ½” for the roof (use a different polka dot for the roof)
• 2 solid 3 ½” X 3 ½” squares
• 2 solid 1 Ό” X 4 ½” rectangles (use the same solid fabric for both squares and rectangles)
• 1 polka dot 1 ½” x 2” rectangle for door

Making the Block:
Sew 2 background rectangles (1 Ό” X 4 ½”) to each side of the house fabric (4 ½” X 5”). Sew roof fabric (2 Ύ” X 6 ½”) across the top.

Take the two background squares (3 ½” X 3 ½”) and fold diagonally, crease and open back up. Place 1 square over the top left corner of the block and sew along the crease from the top to the bottom.

Trim Ό”from the seam line through both layers then fold the flap up. Now you have one side of the roof. Repeat this step on the top right side of the block to finish the roof.

Square up each block so that it measures 6 ½” X 6 ½”. If you have to trim it, trim from the bottom so not to take away from the roof line.

Add the polka dot door to the middle of the house lining up the bottom of the door with the bottom of the block. Stitch Ό” from the sides and top of the door. This is called raw edge appliquι.

I hope you like this.

Linda maybe you need to share the house block pattern with all of us!
Also I totally forgot to mail your squares and ATC today. I had to make lunch for my family(at 8:30am) because I had to go out into the country on the opposite side of town, get my friend, who can no longer drive, take her to the beauty shop, the Bank and Walgreens. We also got some soup for lunch. I was an hour late but we made her appointment's fine...but in my hurry to get away I forgot to get the things to mail. Tomorrow is a new day! I will drop them off then!
