My sister in law has started making sourdough, which is something I always wanted to do, but intimidated to try. She gifted me a sour dough started when she was home a few weeks ago from Alaska and her beloved recipe which took her 3 years to perfect. She nicked name her starter: [bleep]y Betty's Bubbling Baby. LOL!! Betty gave her a run for her money! At any rate, I have waken her up and have fed her twice now, so excited to try. Meanwhile, My Sissy's recipe has been added to my family history cook book. Thought I would share with you all! XO

I've had some choice words for my starter in the past LOL! Hope you're having great luck with Betty :)

April - That's so exciting to hear you're making your own sourdough!! I made some a very long time ago from a starter that a friend gave me, but during one of our moves, the starter got neglected & eventually we went our separate ways. My niece (the patisserie chef) gifted me a starter kit for Christmas & has inspired me to get back into it again. I'm going to be trying a gluten-free version, so we'll see how it goes. Post us a picture of your first loaf of bread!

Hey Ladies,, due to, 2, not so successful eye surgeries, I didn't get around to sharing my 'Aunt Grace's" candied walnuts recipe.. So, here goes, for any of you interested.. (I am typing it as she wrote it) BTW: they had a small orchard on the farm, which included walnuts, almonds, figs, olives and pomegranates.. _______________________________________________ 3-4 cups walnuts make in large pan or pot 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c Karo. (syrup-she did not mention dark or light) 1/2 c water 1/2 tsp vanilla
242' degrees with candy temp or crackling stage in water
put nuts in oven + heat for 5min. 250-300degrees When syrup is done pour nuts into pot, stir together till nuts are all covered, pour on wax paper + separate, work fast. (fyI: uber hot! I use 2 forks to toss and mix the nuts)
"This is a recipe of love from me to you. Your the sugar and I am nuts" ***************************************** How can you not love a wonderful and silly Aunt like that!
