This weekend I was putting up the Christmas trees, because the children have been begging for them! In our living room we have a Christmas tree with white lights and in the kids loft we have a Christmas tree with colored lights. It got me thinking, what Christmas lights do others prefer? Do you have white or colored Christmas lights? I think next year I will switch the lights up and have colored lights on our main tree. I love the nostalgia they create.

My tree has 6 different light options. Sometimes I feel like white, other times color and once in a while I like the green/red combination. I bought this tree about 2 years ago from Home Depot and really enjoy having the variety or color options to choose from.

My outside lights are all done and Friday the autumn/Thanksgiving decor will come down and I'll bring up the inside stuff. The tree will probably go up on Sunday.

Have fun decorating!

I prefer White lights on my tree as they remind me of Germany. That’s when I fell in love with white lights on
my tree as we always had colored lights. Living in Germany we learned many new traditions that we still embrace. I really miss Germany at Christmas.

I put up 4 trees and they all have white lights.

Debbie - one day I'd love to go to Germany for Christmas!!! The Christmas markets look amazing!

Dawn, I really like that! I like the thought of being able to change the colors to fit your mood without having to take them all off the tree! I will have to see if they sell those lights as an option next year. We don't have a prelit tree. I was tired of constantly fixing the lights on those trees. Fixing the tree branches and putting on the lights and garland are just not for my husband. He would be good just taking the tree from the box, sticking them together, and calling it good lol! Drives me crazy!

Karen, I am normally all about the white lights, but the colored lights really have my heart this year. They remind me of my grandma.

Colored lights for our family, because of the nostalgia, but I have a smaller tree with white lights.

I prefer white inside on the tree. I also have them (mini) around my two big living room windows and those are there year round.
Colored lights outside, however I don't have that going on this year.

I love colors lights on our Christmas tree because I grew up with them. But, I have what I call my "everything tree" which is a small faux 4 ft. tree that I only use white lights on. The white lights seem to work for all seasons and times of the year except the months of October and November when I use orange/brown mini lights that seem to provide a more cozy fall feeling.

I can never limit myself.. while I love clears twinkle lights I also love the festiveness of multi colored lights…
One year I had 7 trees up.. each tree was a ‘theme’ and they were all sizes and shapes…, now that we have downsized I limit myself to 2 regular trees and several table sized trees (2ft).. This year I am going a different route, I tree, my snowman collection and my MCM Putz houses that light up.
I actually enjoy changing things up every couple of years..

Krista,,, I think you should have at least 6 trees! Teeheehee!

I like both and I have a aluminum tree with a Color Wheel. The colored lights on this tree are vintage lighted ice. Bulbs are from the 1960's still working. I only keep them on about 2 hours a night. I am adding vintage tin cookie cutters to it. The lighted ice are pretty even when burned out. my 4ft tree has all white lights, Alfie, my cat loves sleeping under it.

I haven't had a tree in 20 years or so; not since the last time I had the whole family here and there were little kids. We hardly all fit in my small house so my kids started taking turns every year. Our trees always had colored lights. The past 10 years I've been on the road with DH so Christmas has been spent in motels. I finally broke down this year and got a tiny tree so we would have it to come home to. I like colored lights on the tree and white ones on the house outside. Do not ask about the year long ago that my then husband had a light war with the neighbor. I'm sure our house could be seen from the space station.

CJ, I bet the ones in your window are beautiful!

Winnie, I have always loved the idea of a year round tree! I am just not sure where I would put it, but one day I will have one!

Well Grace...... I do have six trees! We have the main tree downstairs, one in our loft, and then each kid has their own little 2 foot tree in their room!

Connie Sue, your trees are beautiful! I love those lighted ice lights. They are very beautiful and I love the size of them.

Judith, I am happy to hear you got yourself a little tree! I hope it is very festive for you.
