                      | What does everyone use for a stiffener for crocheted snowflakes? Starch, glue, modpodge? Wondering what would hold up the best. I was kind of leaning toward modpodge, as I have some? I just don't know how well it would work. I do have a box of argo starch as well. Thanks for your help.

                      | You can use modpodge for stiffening. It's probably better than starch as bugs won't eat it. I might thin it with a little water and dip snowflakes in it. I recall my aunt using a strong sugar solution for some of her crochet projects; not a good idea if you live nears ants.

                      | Thanks Judith. I have them pinned on a piece of Styrofoam, and will try painting it on. They need to be pinned in shape. They are "thicker" then some patterns, which is why I wanted to make them.

                      | What I learned on modgepodge stiffner. Don't go out to the barn and grab a leftover piece of building styrofoam. If it has printing on it, that ink will come off on the object you have on them. 2nd, don't just grab old pins from your pin cushion. It will leave stains on your object. Use ss pins, which I could not find in my dresser. 3rd, they dry alot faster in the sun, then in the shade of a porch. That all being said, none of those issues were that bad, but they were there. So what do I do? Grab some white craft paint and just touch up those spots. It worked. No one will notice any of these issues. lol. I will attach a picture in a bit, got to use my phone.

                      | If memory serves me, there used to be a product sold via 'Mary Maxim as well as Herrschners' for stiffening ... I think it was called "Drapze" or something like that.. I will have to try to remember where I stashed those old catalogs and pull them out to see it they have the item... fingers crossed

                      | Those turned out great! And thanks for the info on using modgepodge. Do you think it would work to add a little glitter to the modgepodge?

                      | Heather not sure about adding glitter to the modgepodge. Try it and see. I wonder if it would sparkle as it hardens in the glue. Though it would keep it from falling off all over everything, haha.
