I'm confessing here and now to being a jar collector. I have never met a jar I didn't like and want to keep. Vintage Mason jars are my favorites but any jar especially if it has a pretty colored lid or is unusual in size or shape is a keeper. Saying all that brings me to the little round jar with orange lid that peaches came in. You jar keepers know that I just had to hang on to that one. Several years back I put all my jars on one shelf in my pie safe while they waited to be used. I made one rule for me to follow. New jar in - old jar out - easier said than done. So today when I put that beautiful little round jar with orange lid on the shelf, I took a jar out. Must admit I took out the plainest jar on the shelf, but it did make room for the jar I really wanted to keep.

Love this story of your jars Sara, I bet you have quite a unique variety too. And in a Pie Safe , I bet the Pie Safe is old and unique as well.

Debbie, I've had the pie safe for some 40 odd years. It's a DIY from a time when folks made do with what they had. Someone took an old wardrobe; took the wooden doors off; and replaced with screen doors. It stands a little over 6'. When I moved to Paris, I had to measure all my old vintage pieces to make sure they would fit into rooms with 7' ceilings.
My jar collection has changed through the years, but somehow, I have managed to hang on to some of my favorites.

Sara -- I share your joy of jars. My kitchen counters are lined with much of my collection (I don't have a pie safe). I justify keeping them by using them to store beans and grains. It also makes it handy to find them without rummaging through cabinets.

Judith, I have a small cabinet in my kitchen that holds dried beans in odd jars and in the pantry, there is pasta in jars. Like you I like to see at a glance what is in the jars.
Two of the jars that holds dried beans came from my grandmother's old home place. Coffee used to come in them and both are blue tinted glass.

YellowRose....you are speaking my language! Jars in the freezer, oven, pantry, fridge. They can be filled with food, gifts, treasures, buttons, and everything in between. I confess that I am a jar lover, as well. I have no idea how to post the picture of my kitchen hutch but it is filled with jars on display-filled with wonders of the kitchen :0)

Well, I ordered another peaches in a jar and this time it was ginger flavored with a yellow lid. Same cute little jar but with a yellow lid that you all know I will just have to keep, so a jar on the shelf must go but the yellow lid jar will be worth it. Next time I am thinking about ordering the coconut flavored peaches, I wonder what color lid it will have.

Sara, I love jars too!! I store buttons, snacks, flour, sugar…all the things in jars!! :) Your pie safe sounds amazing!! :)
