Earth Day is April 22 and what better way to celebrate our glorious planet is to have an earth day swap.Think of ways to replace something you use that creates waste to something reused. Such as fabric bowl covers instead of Saran Wrap, hankies instead of Kleenix. Fabric towels instead of paper towels, etc. The possibilities are endless and it is a great time to get creative and encourage everyone to help save our planet and keep things out of landfills.

Sign ups will go until March 26th and mail out will be April 15.

Add me please! I would love to join! I remember celebrating the very first Earth Day April 22nd, 1970. I was in 7th grade. The Memphis Botanical Gardens had a huge celebration, with hands on events for kids and adults. Information on Recycling and Organic Gardening, Composting, Pollution, Water waste, etc. It would be many years before Recycling centers became a reality in my area. The Celebration has been every year since 1970 growing every year. We went many, many years! Still go if we can.

Oh how I love earth day and this is the perfect swap! I'm in Julie! Thank you!
Connie, love your stories, reminds me of my time then. I was such an eco nature freak hippie, lol. Funny, I still am but a little more mature and wiser about it;)

Julie I would like to join this swap. Do y’all remember Woodsy Owl?

Wanda Sue! I remember and love them both! My husband is a retired teacher and he would always bring home a coloring page to our daughter from his class, Woodsy Owl and Smokey Bear. When I was in Elementary School in the early 1960's We had the "Clean up! "Paint Up" Fix it" Parade. We did it in our classroom, had materials to take home to encourage our neighborhood to do the same. There were programs at our neighborhood community center to help older neighbors with repairs or painting or clean up and haul off.
It was a city wide program to help and encourage everyone. I think it was around the time First Lady Bird Johnson started the Keep America Beautiful campaign. She traveled the USA promoting keeping roads clean and planting flowers. She came to Memphis, spoke at the beautiful Peabody Hotel.
There is a Huge flower bed planted in her honor in Midtown Memphis of All red Tulips.

Connie Sue I didn’t realize that 1970 was the first Earth Day. That was probably when my school had a presentation about pollution, and that really had an impact on my life.

Julie,I was raised by a Granny who didn't waste anything! So at a young age we learned. She would get the flyswatter after us if we ever dared throw a candy wrapper on the ground! It's the same as throwing it on your living room floor! Being married to a school teacher for 50 years, I learned a lot, he always had me researching stuff for him( back then I had to go to the library) and he had me making charts for his Class room because I could Block Print better than him. LOL!
