your milker does not want to keep running. My milking area is in an unheated barn, and the milker worked for a while and then would stop. I could get it going again and it would stop. I ended up strippimg my cow out, and then of course the pulsator keep going. -22 this morning at 6 am.

Wow Michelle, I can’t even imagine temps like that. The lowest I’ve ever experienced was in the teens.

Michelle, I'm with Wanda, can't imagine temps that low. I know your wood fire sure felt good when you got back inside.

Yikes, that is cold!! :) Here’s hoping you won’t have issues with your milker all winter.
Michelle, can you please explain what stripping out the cow means? Thanks! :) I’m a Farmgirl at heart…lol

My goodness Michelle! I also can't imagine being out in cold like that. Maybe it was too cold for your machine? Please keep warm. The coldest I was in was 10 and I couldn't even take a deep breath.

Colder this morning. At 5 it is -27. Will drop a few more degrees before the sun rises. House was cold this morning. Got up early and put a bunch of small wood on the fire to get that going again. Karen, stripping out just means I finished milking the last bit of milk by hand. The cold wears on you, in my opinion. We have to feed hay today, and I hope the tractor will start, but not holding my breath. Will plug it in when I go out to milk. If nothing else we will pull the bales in with the truck. There is only 5 inches of snow out there so we will be able to drive in it. Looking forward to going above zero.

Michele, you take care now with these bitter cold conditions! I hope the weather changes soon so that you can more easily get your farm chores done.

Nice difference this morning, 3 above. Little bit of fresh snow too. We did get the tractor started yesterday, and cows got their hay. Thankfully all is good and working. I heated up some raw rice, poured it in a sock and put that on the milker pulsator and it kept that working so I could milk. I was able to warm up my finger tips too, haha. I am sure all the animals are much happier this morning.

Winnie, did you get any snow? I saw where Florida was getting it.

Michele, glad it at least got above 0 for you. Still below here at -4.

Sorry to hear of your milking troubles Michele, but glad to hear you found a warm solution! I was expecting you to say something along the lines of your eyelashes or nose hairs freezing together LOL! That's how I know it's cold!!!!
