Hi Farmgirls, I posted today that our Annual Apple Festival here at MJF begins on September 1st. I am hosting an Apple Swap to start off all the fun! This swap can be any thing you think someone might enjoy having as long as it is apple related. There are countless ideas out there so I will let you plan what you would like to do. Keep it simple since postage is costing more these days.
Sign ups will go through Friday September 5th and partners will post September 6th. This way we can get out some apple fun to our partners that can be enjoyed all month.

I found 2 cute apple projects on Pinterest - and there are a LOT more. I've already got one project cut out (with an extra for Moi!) and still looking.
Pinterest is addictive.

Welcome everyone!! This year's swap enthusiasm keeps growing and growing. With September's arrival this weekend, it won't be long before this year's crop of new apples will be heading out to grocery stores everywhere...EVEN SOME WILL END UP IN FLORIDA!!
In 2020, my Apple notebook records that on 8/18/20, a new crop of Ginger Golds arrived here in Florida at The Fresh Market store. The grocery store got the produce from a couple of eastern orchards where this early apple was ready to enjoy. On 9/6/21, a friend of ours came back from North Carolina and brought me some local apples from the Henderson area called Paula Reds and Wolf Rivers. Both ripen in late Summer and were tart. But they sure made one delicious apple pie!!

We travel to Wisconsin to get Honey crisp apples which are so good. We also go to an Amish Fall Festival in late September where they cook up apple butter in a large kettle and sell it on fresh baked bread still warm for a dollar a slice. So good. I love making pies and crisps. Here is a recipe for cherry-apple crisp. 30 Oz can cherry pie filling,3 granny smith apples cored, peeled and sliced,combine and pour into 9x9 pan. Mix together 3/4 c flour,1/2 c oats,1/3 c brown sugar. 1/2 t cinnamon,1/3 c margarine melted, sprinkle over filling. Bake 375 for 40 minutes.
