Hi all!

My daughter has painstakingly worked on a baby quilt for hours and hours. She used some old thread to baste the layers. The thread has bled onto the fabric making small dots and smearing the color onto the quilt…is there ANYTHING she can do to remove the stains.
TIA. :)

Karen :)

Hi, Karen! I was reading one of the other topics, and another Farmgirl said that her son spilled red jello on his white shirt. She couldn't get the stain out until she tried rubbing alcohol. Maybe that will work on the quilt. I would try it on some of the scrap fabric before I tried it on the quilt. . .but, maybe that will work!

I agree with Nancy! That was my son lol! Give it a try and see if it works. I hope it helps. I am so sad to hear the thread did that. I hope she can get the stains out.

Woo Hoo! So glad to hear the great news! What did she use? I like to keep a list of what works for my own problem stains.

Karen, I am happy to learn that your daughter was able to get out the stains in her baby quilt. Whew!! What a relief for her after so many hours of work.

She used an Oxie Clean pre-stain remover. She used a soft bristled brush to scrub at stains. She was very relieved that they came out. She did have to replace the backing fabric as the stains didn’t come out on that. :)

Thanks for sharing what your daughter used to remove the stains! I am always looking for ways to remove stains! I have been using bars of soap that I bought at a pioneer museum. there was a woman using her Grandmother's recipe to make soap. I tried it, loved it, and drove the two hours back to the museum to buy more. My GrandDaughter calls it "Nana's Magic Soap". It's great stuff, but I can't get anymore and don't know what is in it! Very sad for me!
