Ok, I am a better baker than an architect! This is the result of a morning's gingerbread making, including several rolled holiday cookies I'll give away. The house just won't stick together and now there's a crack in one wall. At least it's still good to eat!

OOOOOO! Dear! When you put them together you need to make some royal icing. . .it hardens when it is dry!

I suspected as much. I think I'll take it to church for the kids to eat.

Vanessa, it is so frustrating to work on a project like a gingerbread house only to have the thing collapse!! It looks so cute and a shame it just wouldn't cooperate. However, like you say, it will taste delicious and the kids will be thrilled to eat it at church!

I bought a kit a couple years ago to try and had the same luck LOL! The funniest part for me was that even though the houses were falling down because the icing wouldn't hold when I went to get rid of them after Christmas I couldn't get them off the table they were on! They were stuck like glue LOL! One day I'll try making some again :)

We usually do these every year with the grandchildren. I buy the small ones and they each pick one to decorate. We've had a pretty good time except when they break from trying to get them cut apart. They are hard to start with and break easy. We only had a small piece break last year but it was easily fixed and covered.

Your gingerbread looks delicious, I hope you got to enjoy it anyway. The house is so pretty, next time you will be able to get it to hold together.

Oh no Vanessa. My gingerbread houses always turn out the same and it's even harder with kids because they don't have the patience to wait until it's set. Eating it sounds like a much better idea!

Oh Vanessa, I suspect, there are a bunch of us that would gladly dash over to your house, with coffee or tea cup in hand to help you eat it.. because it looks beautiful and yummy to us :>)
