I have been working slowly on Barbie clothes. Finding simple patterns on pinterest. I am making two of everything as we have two granddaughters.
So far I have 4 dresses, 4 flannel pj pants, (two for barbies, and two for ken), 2 tie on lace apron style to use with dresses, and one wedding dress. Kind of losing interest.....but got to keep going.
then I started making yo yo's for Christmas ornaments. Jingle bell on the bottom, and 2 each of 4 different sizes of yoyo's. Then a bow for the top. Makes a tree shape. I make ornaments for the grandkids every year. I can only say, good thing I am starting early. The YoYo's are taking me some time. lol I think I have yoyo's cut out for 10 ornaments. I have 8 grandkids and make extras for gifts. Will need a few more I am guessing.

Great start Michele on your holiday projects! Please post pictures of your Barbie outfits when you can. I'm sure the girls will love them. Your ornaments are always so pretty and creative. Your grandchildren are very fortunate to get a homemade one each year from you.

Michele -

Great idea - I always start early for Christmas. I am hoping to have a Christmas sale in November at my house. I always make some things to post on the MJF Marketplace, too.

I am currently working on snap scarves, dish towel boas, recycled denim aprons, Half-Circle Christmas napkins, Christmas dinner roll keepers, microwavable, potholders, pan savers, quilted table squares, and whatever else I can come up with. I already have several quilts (many childrens) made and numerous other items.

Oh my stars! Michelle, you. making Barbie clothes so reminds me of my youth, when I ‘borrowed’ my dad’s. ‘chamois’ cloth to make a coat for my Barbie (I was about 11 at the time)…
The coat turned out great , but… when my dad found out… oh, it was Not a good day for Barbie or me!!
Moral of the story.. Ask first before taking dad’s chamois…

I think I will be making western shirts for the three oldest grandkids. They are showing at their county fair now, and thought that would be nice for them. I plan on looking for material at a Mennonite store in Withee tomorrow. We ship cows down in that area and tomorrow is the day. I know this store has alot of material, and it is nicer to see it in person, then try to order online.

Good luck with your Barbie clothes. Your granddaughter's will love them.

That's how I learned to sew - many many many years ago. Mine were very simple and now there are patterns available - and Pinterest is a great place to find them.

Grace I loved your chamois story!! oh my. I have also made sewing machine needle holders. I used clear vinyl to make pockets to hold the plastic needle packs. Then folded the holder and added a snap. That is for the ladies in my family. I will add pictures later today, incase any one is looking for ideas.

That needle holder is a great idea. I can never find my pack of needles in my messy sewing drawer. Is the tree ornament made out of yo-yos?

Heather the ornament is made out of yoyo's. I saw a picture on pinterest, no instructions, and made a pattern as I went along.
Grace I thought of your while making all those darn yoyo's, lol. I made about 15 of those little trees, times 8 yoyo's per tree. That was alot of yoyo's. haha

Christmas gifts are almost done. I did go a totally different direction. I found a great deal on snowshoes. All the grandkids got a pair. I did make them all a pillowcase to wrap the snowshoes in. The western shirts, one is done, and going to wait on the other two till after Christmas so the boys can try the one on. After the work of making it, I want to make sure I am close on the sizing. After quilting for so long, it was hard to go back to clothes making. Lots of ripping out for some reason. Fun fun fun

You've done a wonderful job making the gifts for your grandchildren. The pillowcases make a perfect wrapping for the snowshoes & the kids can use the pillowcases all year long! The last two shirts will hopefully come together for you once you can measure the boys.

I love pillowcases for wrapping, too.
