Volunteering is sooo good for the Heart...
I spent today over at the local community church helping ... handing out snacks & water, Lists with phone numbers of Associations available to give help and Aid.
Also we had tables stacked with donated clean clothing and shoes for anyone who needed them.
Everyone has a story, and it is so important to listen to their story, their pain at the loss of their residence,, be it a house, a trailer or apartment or what ever.. Listening is a form of kindness and right now I feel Blessed to have been spared from the wrath of the fires, and am grateful to be able to listen to their stories.
To let them know someone cares enough to hear their story.
One part of me feels good but the other part of me feels so very sad for these people who have lost everything. Some are fortunate to have the monetary means to move forward, but some were barely squeaking by, some, like the elderly, are living off of their Social Security,, and have no where to go.. That is where the Red Cross is stepping in and securing temporary locations to stay until they can figure out something more permanent.
The ashes from the fires will blow away,, and the community will re-build, but the heart break, the devastation will take a long time to heal.
I am just grateful that I was able to help out today..
Volunteering is truly good for the Heart.

Amen Grace. We never know when we will need a listening ear, a helping hand or a caring heart! We interact the best when we have caring hearts! Happy you all are ok, praying for those who aren't and helping where I can too. Thanks for the reminder. God bless you so....

Grace, you are an amazing woman! And all those people are blessed to have you as their listening ear. You made a huge impact on many lives. Volunteering is really an amazing gift you can give to the community.

Grace, your volunteering work was greatly appreciated by all that you helped. It truly in a devastating situation out your way ! Thank-you for helping so many in need and reminding us how volunteering is always important .
