2 years ago I found strawberry plants growing under a hedge on our property. I'm guessing the previous owner of other house dumped them. I dug them up and replanted. The plants gave me sweet fruit last year, not much. The deer love the leaves. Last Autumn I took the runners and planted in my vertical garden. The Greenstalk is by the garage. I'm hoping the deer wont venture this way. I have a question, if anyone grows strawberries. I planted runners in sand, no soil. The few berries last year(critters ate the plants) were very sweet. I know carrots will be sweeter when grown in a sand with very little dirt. Who has grown strawberries in very sandy soil?

Sad to see the bluebird box on ground : ( I found it this morning. Maybe the storm? The eggs were broken. I'm hoping Momma will return and build another nest. I did see her flying neat the box a few minutes ago. I'll add heavier wire to the box for better hold

Your strawberry plant looks like it's off to a great start! I have grown strawberries for 2 years. My soil isn't sandy, so I am not much help there. I would love to hear what others have to say since we just bought 2 more plants for the garden.

Taller stalks are silver queen corn. I planted peaches and cream corn for a later harvest. I planted anasazi beans for an experiment.
Krista, did the strawberry plants grow?

One of my new strawberry plants died but the other is still doing good! By the time I was finally able to plant them outside, the one didn't look so good. So I am not surprised that it died. I will have to find another one and try again.

Your corn looks great! We just planted ours on Sunday. I am excited for when ours start to get that big. We planted Precious Gem and Kandy Korn this year.
