Howdy from South Carolina! I'm Tara.  My husband and 2 Siamese cats live in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Garden zone 7B.
I named my property Sweetgrass Pond. I love Sweetgrass and want to plant some in this space. I'm going to add a cottage garden to part of small space between side porch and corner of house. I thought I'd bring you along for my journey. This is my project, I'll be doing all the work myself. And this project will take months. I'm waiting on a potting bench to be delivered and that will go under the 2 windows. I have to work around meters, hose reel and cable lines. The 165 gallon pond has been installed in the back yard, 1 of many projects and my husband and I added a small beachy area.  I'll take a picture of the pond and share it with ya'll soon. I'd like to plant flowers in colors of peach, coral, pinks and white
I love seashells, sea turtles, dragonflies and frogs. I can't live at the ocean , but I'm happy to be in the mountains again.
And I may share pictures of other projects or what's happening on the property. Suggestions are welcome for garden ideas..jpg?v 99761409)

Sounds like you have lots of fun ahead of you Tara! We had planned to add flowers to our gardens this year but other projects needed priority and now we are in a hot spell. Still plan to do it but will wait for it to cool a little. We really need some rain at present.

Hello Tara, your garden plans sound wonderful and I can’t wait to see your photos and progress. I recently moved to the coast of South Carolina in Murrells Inlet. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

It will be fun to see your progress, Tara! :)
I have found that gardening evolves over time. What I used to love 10-15 years ago has changed and morphed into something different. But I love all the colors and textures that flowers, grasses, and ornaments bring to my yard! :)

A visitor. Black bears are seen in the NW part of SC. This one was has been roaming the neighborhood.
Just Mother Nature keeping the eco-system healthy.

Hello Tara. It sounds like you will be super busy this summer, but it sounds like it will be lots of fun. I look forward to seeing the updates you post.
What a neat visitor. It's awesome that you were able to catch that on camera. I would love to see what sort of creatures roam around us. There wouldn't be any bears though.

Tara, you new homestead sounds beautiful and all of your plans will be fun and rewarding. Enjoy your summer and the gorgeous Fall that will be coming your way in those lower Appalachian Mountains. I had surgery on my right foot. I tried to do too much and now paying for it in a lot of pain.

I have tendonitis. Til this goes away I'll be off my feet. My husband said he would help with the project. He put the solar fountain together.

My sugar snap vines still producing. Fresh picked snap peas to have with dinner tonight.
I'll be planting more snaps early August for an Autumn harvest.

Tara,, don't you just luv Trail Cams? We spot the most interesting night visitors with ours. Sometimes in the day time too! recently a Fox who had just snagged a Quail..
Zone 7B, you lucky ducky.. I bounce between 4A-to in some years to a 5A but mostly 4A due to our particular location..
Spokane is always 8-10 degrees warmer then us so planting season is a few weeks earlier.

I have new camera! Once I figure out how to use I'll get more photos of what's going on at Sweetgrass Pond

Tara, it looks like lots of summer fun is unfolding at Sweetgrass Pond! Just curious about coffee. What is your favorite? I love coffee too but have to drink Decaf which does limit a few choices.

Tara, yep, I cut back on coffee and OD on iced tea,, with just a pinch of sugar.. I like my iced tea, crisp...

Homemade lemonade to enjoy with dinner. I cut up 6 lemons and threw them in this bowl of sugar water. I boil water then add about a cup and smidge of cane sugar.
The longer the lemons have time to sit, the better the flavor.
Leftover lemonade will go into freezer molds for ice pops
