Here is how I reward myself for spending the morning in my garden..

I cooked down about 2/3cup of fresh GB, just pick off the stem and tail, then put in a pot with about 1/2 cup water and a large teaspoon of sugar and a couple of squeeze of fresh lemon juice. I am not a “recipe directions “ follower… like my Oma,(German grandma) I eyeball it and taste as I go. I gently smash down the berries, and simmer. I like my jam lumpy but that’s just me :>) So now to kick back, watch a crafting show on TV and enjoy my fresh preserves.
Oh and btw, I have the Thornless verity but mind you, there are still a few thorns.

BTW, if you want to can the berries you will have to use pectin. But you can freeze the fresh made preserves.
You can google recipes for gooseberry preserves.

Grace, that looks yummy! I hope to do that some day with my own berries from the backyard.

Krista,, I am notorious for picking and eating right off the vine.. now I am waiting for my grapes to mature,, I will be netting over them this week to keep the birds from stealing my grapes,, it's the Robins favorite past time,, pecking at the apples and stealing grapes! lol! And the Deer have already started munching on the leaves.. I don't mind sharing, but, save a few for me!!! lol!
