I have been thinking of ideas for my journal, and even bought a bag of more laces and ephemera at a thrift shop. I will have a lot to do to catch up when I get home from Albuquerque. We are thinking we will be leaving close to Sunday, August 7th.

Love the idea of hiding a picture - maybe not completely hidden. LOL!

Jean, I have gone off the beaten path a little, I'm hoping that is ok... While I will be using the junk journal you sent me "for me" :-) I started something prior to receiving your package. Still a junk journal of course, just a little bigger and a little different. I hope my partner won't mind? I do have it complete and am just waiting for my partners name!

Thank you again for your junk journal and all the incredible ephemera you sent! Crazy generous and I have already began using! I do love the way you seamed the junk journal you sent, I've not seen that before and will attempt to duplicate it in the future! :-) Thank you for hosting this swap - as I love love love junk journals and was just thinking to myself, it was about time for another!! Not that I need another by any means! But, I really do!! :-)

Where HAS this month gone?? Today is the last day for the Dog Days Junk Journal signups. Are y’all excited to get your partners tomorrow?

While we wait, how about another NEWBIE TIP? Now, this one comes from our new swapper, Barbie (Rubberfish). When I first got into doing some mail art and participating in her envie swaps, I had the hardest time trying to master gluing. Rubberfish to the rescue. Even though the glue is hidden it is the foundation of your work. And we all know how important strong foundations are. This is what she taught me:

Use the best glue you can afford -- acid free and washable. She recommends Avery Glue “Stic’. It is ‘disappearing’, but goes on purple so you can see where you put your glue and the spots you missed, and it dries clear. After gluing, go over your work with a brayer or the side of your bone folder to smooth everything out.

The other thing is to use Wax Paper or Deli paper. Walmart still sells wax paper. Deli paper can be purchased on Amazon. You may think the glue is dry but it is not. Put a piece of wax paper between your journal pages and they will not stick together.

Another tip is to use baby powder on your FINISHED journal pages or envelopes. This insures there will be no stuck together pages (or envelopes). The travel size Johnson’s Baby Powder is very convenient to use. Just use a tiny amount and wipe off with a dry brush or Kleenex or even a shot of canned air if you go overboard.

Great tips Jean. I'm using Art Glitter glue right now...it is a liquid. I love it. Only thing is you do not need to order it in the winter, because it could freeze. So around late Sept. I place my order for as much as I'm anticipating needing before May. (There is NO GLITTER in the glue.) This is when I order from MAY MAY MADE IT. She is in Northern Alabama. I've also ordered some from Amazon.
If you order some, also order some of the pins that fit in the nozzle, and some extra caps, etc.

Big thanks to Rubberfish and TexasGran for good glue info to help us deal with a sticky situation . . . I'm sorry, the devil made me do it.

I have to agree with Marilyn. Art Glitter Glue is wonderful. It sticks very well and cleans up easily from your surface as long as you’re quick!! :)

I have never made a Junk Journal, either. I can't wait to get home and make it!

Here is a something another friend posted on FB. Can anyone else relate? Fabric is where this relates to me, among other supplies.

Farmgirls -- start those tractor engines -- Partners have been posted. See first post on page 1. Contact your partner by private email to exchange addresses and have fun creating your Dog Days Junk Journals to mail out by August 31.

Marilyn -- Obviously, I have your address. I have not moved so the address you have for me is correct.

Off to bed for me.

So I was looking around on youtube and found a woman who is making a junk journal out of actual junk. No printed out pretties or anything. She is using junk mail and basically things we would normally recycle or toss. This must be where"junk" journals originated and have gradually turned into making prettier, dressed up journals. Though many of us do use our scraps from other things we have created I can understand how they came to be prettier using those things. I thought you might enjoy seeing what she does. She chats a lot during the video but I think it helps her creativity as it does for many people.
Here is the link.

Ohhh yes Denise! THAT'S a real jj!! I just find it so cool the amazing things one can do with junk! Danny has a whole can right now of 2 months worth of mail he was going to burn. He knows be by now and asked of I wanted to sift through it first. I said does a duck quack?? Heck yea! What goodies are to be found, beautiful stamps, cellophane window envelopes, ads, stickers and plenty of writing paper! Great video thanks for sharing!

Marilyn, I'm so excited to know about MayMay so close by! You know Nik?? Love her so, she's funny as heck too! I love the glitter art glue but as far as sticks, I was using one I get from the UK. Ill try the Avery brand Jean. **

Denise,Pam from the Paper Outpost is one of my favorites! She is quirky but has so many wonderful tutorials, from making paper beads to tea and coffee stained papers. She will lay down doily’s, lace, silk flowers, leaves and stencils before spraying that makes beautiful papers.

I've emailed my partner, Marlene, and just waiting for a few tidbits about her so I can personalize things.

LOL! Great video, Denise, but a bit too junky for moi. She uses everything!!

I've got trims, tags, papers, fabrics (you all KNOW I have fabrics), buttons, yarn and string, tape, staples (if needed), photos, and all sorts of junk. All I need to do now is get home from Albuquerque to start working on things.

Denise -- I LOVE that video. Thanks for sharing. For those of you who might have missed Denise's post, here is the link she sent. https://youtu.be/sZI7UrRt-Bw . It's definitely a creative fun way to spend an hour. Do check it out. It really reinforces that "anything" goes when it comes to junk journals which means that Dianna's hubby's Army trash can of his junk is like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. WOWZER!!
