I wanted to share with y’all a Christmas Journal that was made for me years ago. As you can see it is made out of paper brown lunch bags. I love it!

“To be Creative is to let little pieces of your heart go and place them into each project you make.” I do not know who wrote this but it is exactly what I did when I made Wanda Sue’s. And to me it made it so simple then to create each page, with little pieces of my heart. I just wanted to share that with all of you
Have a Beautiful Sunday.

Debbie thanks for sharing, that is so wonderful! I love that it’s made from bags and the ribbon tied spine is beautiful. I just might have to recreate one like that. Crafting is a work of “heart”, and those that don’t craft, don’t understand. That is why the Sisterhood is so special, bringing like-minded souls together. I felt the love in every page of my journal you made for me!!!

I also read a quote recently that said “to be creative takes courage”.

Wanda -- that is so true. I am always afraid to try things because I'm afraid they won't turn out good. One of my sisters is a fantastic artist (actually both of them are). I found out that when she makes a painting she doesn't like she cuts it up and uses it as backgrounds for her ATCs.

Wow Judith, that’s a great idea your sister has, to re-use in such a way.

Please let me share with all of you My Junk Journal that Sweet Wanda Sue made for me. It is Beautiful, Neat and so Me! I love it’s awesomeness and how fabulously fun it is with all the little secret pull outs. And all the wonderful Quotes are amazing as well. I did not find the picture of her and her cat Merlin until I was taking the photos.
Thank you so very much Wanda Sue you truly touched my heart, I love it and will always treasure it!

More photos coming.

Debbie I am so glad you like it, it was so fun to decorate for you. I have love, love, loved everyone’s creations!! So many wonderful pages and ideas.

Thank you Jean for jump starting my journal journey, lol. I have been collecting cardboard and “stuff” to begin making them, but ‘procrastination’ is my middle name. The door has been opened and there is no stopping me now!! I am obsessed with watching YT videos to get more ideas.

Good morning Farmgirls . . . I am in awe at the stunning creations from everyone for this swap. Your efforts have been amazing. And so many of you have really gone the extra mile. Speaking of which I received delightful journals from both Suny58 and Rubberfish and we weren't even partnered. Thank you both so much. Then we three decided to do a wee round robin where we have each made a journal for ourselves and then are passing it along to the other two for "guest pages". It's great fun.

I have been so busy with this and that that I have been remiss in posting photos. But will try to get to that soon. In the meantime have fun with your journaling and perhaps learning some new techniques to share when we do another swap. I'm thinking of posting a "Cabin Fever Reliever Junk Journal" swap when winter has us all going stir crazy around mid-January or February. So start collecting all that ephemera and deciding how you will make your book.

Just a little heads up for those of you who may be interested. I will be posting our final Feedsack Swap next week. I have a limited number of feedsacks remaining so rather than have a closing date for signups, signups for the swap will close when the feedsacks are gone. So watch for the posting and don't delay if you want to join.

Hope y'all have had a great summer . . . Fall is in the air. Can you feel it?

JEAN P, Asked me to post this Idea here. Old books can be used to make really nice
journals. The print makes a nice back drop for adding all our
handy work. I plan on doing that myself real soon.

I love old books so I would never use one for junk journaling unless it was falling apart and beyond repair.

I work in a bookstore which takes donations and buys used books. I have 10 paperbacks which are too damaged to sell. I can post them later and I will send them out for trade or postage. First, I have to get this junk journal finished.

Heather,
You're very welcome...thank you for your kindness while being the first journal I ever attempted! I totally had NO IDEA what I was doing but it inspired me! So I did what I could here and then I got on Etsy and started to dig....dig...dig and then over to YouTube to dig some more! I found some great resources...papers, digital art, video tutorials and I got INSPIRED! So inspired that I decided to create this photo journal for one of my very special brides. You see I'm a professional portrait and wedding photographer and this young woman I've been photographing since she was 17 years old. I photographed her senior portraits from high school, her senior portraits from college, her Mom's wedding in 2020! *yes I said WEDDING in 202!* ;) lol
They are a very special family to me and we've experienced a lot of adventures together. Now she's getting married and they wanted their engagement photos done in San Francisco. This bride also LOVES roses and all things romantic! So I took the elements of her bridal shower invitation and the elements (and by that I mean I tore apart her invites and the envelopes they came in!) to use in the journal. I found art work on Etsy to download and print. I added lace, bird charms and other little bits that fit! I left 3/4 of the journal empty for her to fill it with wedding pages, honeymoon memories and whatever her heart desires.
It was certainly a labor of love project as it took me DAYS to complete it! I had a hard time figuring out how to make the book / journal itself and I didn't want it to fall apart so I did purchase a blank, ready to decorate journal on Etsy. My plan is to learn how to create these on my own. But now I'd totally ADDICTED to this craft! There are so many fun themes and papers out there! Here where I live we only have a small Joann's which doesn't have much in the dept but as soon as I can get down the hill to a larger town I plan to go visit a Hobby Lobby and Michael's to see what I can find there. Anyway, wanted to share my journey, the completed journal and the creative path this has begun for me.
