Just wondering what you guys thought of making calendars to sell? I loff to take pics and have found that I can 'do' calendars on my puter.
I am looking at a time down the road when I don't want to drive a truck anymore but will still have to work (prob till I'm face over in the soup). I have an etsy site but nothing is on it yet. I can't seem to decide what to do or where to go...
Help??

That would be a great idea especilly of all the beautiful sites u see. I used to do it for gifts of family photos as reminders who has a birthday that month. I checked out some of your photos from the road and think they are great. |

Winona I really do believe you could do this. I LOVE your pictures, you seem to have an eye for interesting & a bit different pics. Even if they are not always different in what it happens to be, your pictures always have a way of coming across as differnt & I think it's in the way you shoot them. I am no expert on cameras or film but I do know I like them alot & I'd buy your calendars. I guess I like the style of your pics, hope that makes sense.

Do you have any idea how you would publish the calendars? Would you print them out and bind them at home or have someplace like a Kinko’s do it for you?
I think it is a great idea- Especially if you have a farmer’s market or a gift shop that could sell them for you as well. A lot of tourists like to get calendars of the places they visit because they get 12 beautiful pictures for a relatively low price. I know I have had calendars with pictures that I have wanted to get framed because they were so gorgeous!

Thanks for the support. I'm kind of getting addicted to photography and have to get a bigger card for my camera. I don't know about Kinko's but would have to find some place to do that, wouldn't I?? Also, I don't want to 'sell' my pics, lose control of them or whatever it is you call it. I don't submit my pics to any competition sites, cuz I have read where, if you do, the pics become their property. So I post on my personal sites, like here.
Are there any sites that can guide a person thru something like this?? Would the esty site work? Maybe a blog, which I don't understand just yet? How do I figger out how to price? Taxes? I think the shipping would be fine as I could do that when I'm home. I'm not sure what's around Grants Pass or K Falls, such as a Kinko's...I would have to look.
I'm not trying to replace my current job but an on the side type thing. Any ideas would be appreciated and the gears are sure turning in my head!!

Hey that's a great idea. Also, you always retain your copyright unless otherwise noted. If someplace keeps the rights, then they are probably not legitimate. Also, don't have Kinko's print your calendars. Look online for a photo place that will print calendars. Also make sure you understand how to size your photos. |

http://www.lulu.com/ I visit a blog: http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/ she takes breathtaking photography - and has put it into a calendar. She uses lulu to publish it and sell.
You might want to look into Lulu.... just and idea. I have no clue about pricing etc.
