I'm going to make a garden devoted to plants that were mentioned in the bible or have bible type names. So far I have chose Jacob's ladder, Josephs coat, lambs ears(for the lamb of God),obedient plant and hyssop.
Have any of you done this or have more plant suggestions? I'm mostly interested in flowering ones.

What a neat idea, how about lily of the Valley and rose of sharon (flowering bush) I am pretty sure there are books out there that have similar gardens, I'll see if I can find the one I am thinking about.

Shannon,
I did this years ago at our herb farm. It was very popular. I used to market a potpourri at Christmas called "manger herbs", a blend of things mentioned in scripture. I may even have a small booklet on the subject. Let me take a look at what I have on my shelves and I will post some ideas. I "think" I still have plant lists somewhere too. Give me a bit of thyme .

There's a book about this! I saw it somewhere but don't remember where. You might want to do a search at Amazon.com. Sorry I can't be of more help

Here is an internet page that lists 139 biblical plants and related terms. It claims to be a complete list.

Good luck with your biblical garden! That is such a great idea. I had never heard of that before.

I have a little book by Betsy Williams called "A Wreath of Christmas Legends - Stories and Tales for a Gardener's Christmas" and it includes herbs, trees and plants that relate to Christmas, but not all are Biblical. She includes rosemary, lavender, wild thyme, sweet woodruff, chamomile, Our Lady's Bedstraw, Star of Bethlehem, horehound, coriander, Hawthorne, Birch, wheat, rue, costmary, pennyroyal, ivy, box, bay, juniper, pine, holly. It is a dear little book and fun to look at for crafting and decorating ideas at Christmas. Have FUN with your garden!

Great idea. We once had a dinner party where everyone had to bring something mentioned in the Bible. It was quite good. We had roast lamb, honey, curd (cottage cheese), flat bread, etc. Can't remember all of the dishes, but it got very creative!! Lots of fun. Plus everyone had to bring the Bible verse with their dish of food and place the verse by their dish of food.

That is very neat G. I love all aspects of differnt religions and putting them all together. That's probably why I am not devoted to just one area and prefer wicca.

Blessed Be!

Ooohhh and I have bee balm seedlings started already. I was going to use them for my butterfly garden, but I'm sure I can move one or two around.
