As many of you know, my daughter, Faith is graduating from high school in June.....well, she just received her acceptance letter from University  (She wants to become a (Psychologist) sp?...
I am so proud of her, and she is extremely excited, but I have this little voice inside of me asking what about the $$$$$.
It is going to cost so much, and she is ready to request a student loan, but they are so difficult to pay back. 
I keep praying that something will work out, but wanted to ask my favorite group of pals for some extra prayers. It has worked so many times in the past, but for different reasons. I don't want to seem materialistic.

I will pray! We will be looking at the same picture next June...it sometimes doesn't pay to make enough to live comfortably, but not enough to pay for college or get good financial aid! But, the Lord will always give us what we need! Go the student loan route, and don't touch your retirement money (they don't give you loans for that later in life!!).

Mary Jane, I understand & it's NOT materialistic, it reality. You are in my prayers & thoughts. Our daughter not so long ago said she thought Princeton would be nice.I'm still swallowing HARD!  It's an exceiting & nerveracking time.

Wonderful news! Both my hubby and I will pay on our student loans for ages...But I wouldn't have traded my experience for the world...and the interest is very low...AND my hubby and I met at University so we joke that we'd pay any amount each month for that!

I agree with Meg- If you do need to do the student loan thing- please don’t stress too much about it. College is really worth every penny. More and more statistical studies show that employers are demanding a college education.
I have loved the two colleges that I have/am attending. Each year brings new experiences my way and I meet incredible people. The collegiate atmosphere really helps to bring people together and exposes us young people to ideas and realities that we have never experienced before.
Student loans can be scary because of the amount of debt that a student can incur- but not having an education scares me even more!

Ijust want to tell you this from experience. When my son went off to college after high school, he did not get any financial aid or any scholarships. We were able to pay for the first year. However, when he got to school he did well his first semester and then he started looking for scholarships, fellowships, internships and so on. He ended up getting things for his remaining years there. We were not able to help him much some years, but he graduated with only 5000.00 in student loans, which is pretty good for a BS. He is at Duke graduate school now (and my husband left us in Dec and has not given a dime to any of us-waiting for legal action here) so I think my son will end up with a million dollars in loans now!!! Actually, he also got some fellowships there but still very expensive. His BS is in environmental and he is in graduate school for public health and policy - so he is very interested in all the same things as everyone on these boards. He is an old hippy at heart. I just wanted to tell you that even if the first year is a struggle, there is still alot of help available after they get there. I really didn't know that, I thought if you didn't get that stuff out of high school you were not going to get it. Good luck to you and your girl!
