You know you have way too many Thimbles when it takes you 20 minutes to pick one out and it's usually your go-to Thimble! Lol!

I seem to always use the flat top thimble, it works the best for me

These "AD Logo" ones are cool. To garner the women's votes, campaign thimbles we're given out.

Some are pretty,, and the lower left, was made in England.

But these flat tops are my go-to.

I use to collect porcelain decorative thimbles,, had them on display in glass domed display cases... Some where along the way I had to part with them.

So, what's your favorite thimble?

I forgot to mention, many have sizes stamped on them .. some say L, M, S while others have numerical numbers, 10, 11, 12...

LOL! I have around 100 thimbles. Ed's sister had several sets of the porcelain thimbles that I got when she passed away. And then, at a local estate sale, I got over 60 thimbles with some small display shelves, for $15. I need a wall to hang all the display sets on. LOL! Some are very elaborate, and some are pretty plain. I've also gotten some thimbles as souvenirs at the different places we go on vacations and cruises. Ed gets the souvenir pins and I get the thimbles. Oh! I also have some of the plain metal thimbles that were my mother's - and a couple leather ones, too.

I have a thimble collection from the Danbury Mint of the 50 state butteries. Impractical, but beautiful. Love yours, thanks for sharing them with us!

I don't use thimbles. I never really learned how. If I have one on a finger, it just gets in the way. Still, I have a very nice thimble I bought for myself when I thought I could teach myself how to use it.

Kat,
That is a nice collection. I have a jar of some very old ones. When I
look at them I can't help but wonder who used them and what they were making.

Wonderful collection, Grace... my grandmother had quite the collection of thimbles as well, my sister has them now beautifully displayed in her bedroom. Such sweet memories.

I use to use the leather ones when I was doing seed bead work... .but now that I have old lady eyes, I don't anymore.. but I keep the leather 'thimble's. Just in case I get a wild hair up my nose and want to do seed beaders again! Lol!

I have a thimble collection Grace. Some are porcelain and my favoroite of those is a little one with clover on it. It says Ireland on it. Love it! I also have metal ones my great grandma used and were passed to my mom.

Each one has a story,,
It amazes me how intricate and lovely some are, some are simple utilitarian and some are simple tin or plastic that were includes with pre-made sewing kits..
But each is sweet and are handy, especially for quilters and beaders.

That’s a lovely collection Grace. I remember my grandmother having a large thimble collection in her home on display. They were all so pretty. Many of them came from the different states. I think I have only used a thimble once in my life when I had a very difficult sewing project where I needed to send some yarn through thick layers of material. The thimble helped save my poor finger from all the pushing.

They take a while to get use to, but they do help prevent punctures into our fingers...
