Linda and Heather, I read the Orphan Train book when I was subbing, with fifth graders. It was in the small school library. Each time I took that class, I would grab that book and react a few pages. You can imagine it took me a couple of years. But the story of the brothers who were taken from the train near Weatherford, Texas got my attention. How could any woman be so uncaring, so unloving?? I prayed every day for those children...who some how grew up, married, and had children of their own.And I have always wondered if somehow I may have met any of their descendents, some of whom were part of the greatest generation.
Now they tell us that everything we have been taught in our lives was a lie...but I think that children who were unloved, but grew up to be good loving husbands and fathers or wives and mothers, who lived thru those times knew that part of their lives was real!

Kathy, I have not forgotten you, I am working on my feedsack project now. I had to go a different way then I wanted as I was not able to envision what I wanted to do, so I envisioned something else. I got it now and am feeling it so back to work I go.
Have a Blessed weekend.

Marilyn asked me to post a picture of what I sent her - she sent me this picture today. I made her a dish drainer quilt, a fabric wall pocket, and a crocheted over-the-oven-door towel holder.

Denise - thank you for the wonderful package that arrived today!! I love the kitchen goodies you made.

There's a pair of potholders, 2 dishtowels that say welcome to paradise, a dish drying mat, and a mug rug. Not only does everything look great but it's so useful. Thank you for a wonderful swap!!

I wanted to post a close up of the fabric print but I'm having trouble so I'll come back and do it later before I loose this post!

I had so much fun doing this swap Heather. I wanted to do something that would be handy in the kitchen. I'm sure you know the smaller dish mat is the other half of your towel. They were so thick I wanted to use it for something. I know it's small but still thought it could be of use. The mug rug was the only thing I could think for the small piece I had left. This swap got me back into sewing and using my brain to think what to make. Lol. I am glad you like it all.

I agree Grace!

Denise - I love the little size of it - it's perfect for my jerkey gun or a couple canning jars that need to be thoroughly dry before putting away. And I can always use mug rugs. I take my tea and hot chocolate where ever I happen to be doing something - could be the table, the couch, the sewing machine, the kitchen, even putting clothes away so having many in various places is a good idea LOL! I'm glad this swap helped you get back into sewing. It was a fun swap :)

I received my giftie from Debra and I love it! She made me a pillow and a pincushion. Thank you so very much Deb! I will take a photo tomorrow and post it on this list.

I am slow getting her package in the mail. I developed cellulitis in both of my legs and have had to spend the last three weeks "reclining" I hate sitting and it is difficult to sew in that position(lol) but I have my project just about completed and ready to mail this weekend.

Thank you again Deb for the lovely pillow, it will go well with my bedroom as everything is golden yellow and lt. purple.

Oh my stars, what a gorgeous Feedsack swap package I received from Julie (TreeLady) a few days ag0.

She really outdid herself making a marvelous reversable apron with two matching pot holders and a nice big dish towel using the feedsack fabric in a neat border treatment. She also sent along a crochet dishcloth in a matching color and some beauty treats too. What a wonderful box of goodies. Thank you sew very much Julie.
hugs,
jean
