This!!!!

Spring, 2006

It was 84 here yesterday, and after wheeling 2 tons (not exagerating) of soil into my garden bed and planting peas and potatoes over the most gorgeous weekend, it's now 43 degrees. It's supposed to go to a low of 28 tonight, and be between 28 and 35 for the next six days. Yay.

I have heirloom sweet peas coming up from 1730 to 1898. Other than those little things, what should I be covering up? How about rose bushes, hostas that have already shot up, or any Irises? I've got lady's mantle starting, columbine, alliums. Are any of these in danger, or should I just cover the whole darn thing with sheets?

I think maybe I should have hit the thrift store on my lunch hour for sheets....

Oh my! i think I personally would cover everything just to be on the safe side. I sure hope everything does well. Fingers and toes crossed!

If there's a hard freeze, it's all in danger. The hard freeze isn't supposed to hit here until either Friday or Saturday night. If you have enought sheets, put them over whatever you can. I have thousands of daylilies up at the farm - there's no hope for me. :(

I'm sorry about your daylilies, Janice. It's been really weird around here, hasn't it? I mean, you're not that far south from us, and I keep forgetting that our last frost date is May 5th. That's still a month away! With the weather that we've been having, I've been really fooled!

Guess dinner will be delayed tonight while I raid my linen closet!

Well, I've seen snow on Derby Day before. I've never been able to delay planting/gardening until the last frost date in May. I guess I'm just too ready to be rid of winter! :D

Weed free.....I hope you're kidding--it's really a good angle that that photo is taken!

You're right. I'm too anxious, as well, I suppose. I'll just sit tight and cross fingers that everybody is "ok" after this.
