I had never thought of spun goat's hair for doll hair. I bet that would be nice. I use unspun alpaca on my dolls because it's so long and silky, and I've been having trouble finding the red-brown color I had used previously. I've only got black right now, and my dolls are getting tired of always being black-haired. Does anyone have a source for smallish amounts of red-brown alpaca fibre? I'd like to get it locally, of course, but I've had no luck with that so far...
Frannie - I'll let you know if I ever get around to having a herd of goats and can spin up some doll hair for you. But hopefully another farmgirl can help you out in a more timely fashion!

I know someone with cashmeres, but not black. I've got some black icelanic, though. It's long and curly, not the usual crimpy you get with wool.

If you go to esthersplacefibers.com you may find something there. I was just visiting last week to get my spindle. They had some sheeps wool that was almost black. No goats wool, I don't think.

Call it Mohair Frannie..it comes from angora goats. I only have a white one, but could send some of that. Seems like Frannie in Texas had some colored ones. I could be wrong though.
