My wonderful husband got me a drop spindle for Christmas...I've spun on a wheel for years but had never mastered a spindle. I haven't had as much time to work on it as I would like, but so far I looove doing it. There's something really satisfying about learning such an old, primitive skill.

Yay, Kim!! And, I see you're up at 4:36 in the morning too--prime time to work on a new skill, before anyone else is up! It may be frustrating in the beginning, but keep it up--I used to block out 15 minutes to 1/2 hour a day to work on it. Practice, practice, practice!

Mikki, if your having trouble, try it as a top whorl, it has a hook. I have found top whorl (for me) is a more enjoyable way to spin.
