OK send ME hate mail if you must, but I can stand it no longer and I must speak out. We need to remember that we really do not know the trials some of the farmgirls may be experiencing. Do you REALLY know the family or personal health issues, Work or community problems, computer breakdowns, etc., etc. that an individual may be going through? I think not.
Why do YOU swap? Is it mainly for the goodies you get? Personally I swap because I love to make and share beautiful things. When my package goes to the post office, I am basically finished with that swap. If I get something in return, well that is a bit of lagniappe (Cajun word for a little something extra). If it arrives late, I understand that is no doubt because life got in the way. And, if what I receive isn't the finest workmanship, I love the intention behind it as I know so well that we are each of us at different levels in our capabilities.
I broach this subject, because I know of at least one farmgirl who has recently been turned off by some very critical messages. She has problems of which you have no idea. But she doesn't complain and they are really none of our business after all are they? She needs our understanding and comraderies but is ready to quit the forum all together. Shame on us.
Where is the sympathy, support and compassion that "should" identify each of us? In other words Please remember to be kind especially if you haven't traveled in another farmgirl's boots.

Oh Jean, this breaks my heart to hear this and know that we have 'ugly rearing its head at our farmsisters! How WELL I know of the demons that can alter our lives in ways we dont unexpect it! Like YOU ( and many others) we swap because we love to create and give! I not gotten several swaps but that doesn't stop me. My goal is to bring a smile hopefully to my partner. I've been SO BLESSED by the friends I've made here and a few very special ones I dearly love. Hurts to know someone would get ugly with another. Our world is growing so unkind. Totally agree, Let's be beacons of lights in this darkening world and have some emphathy/sympathy AND compassion for each other!!

Oh, Jean, it breaks my heart to think a farmgirl is considering quitting this forum because of any unkindness experienced. Please pass along my love, and hugs to her, ok? Please tell her she is beautiful, amazing and ever so worthy of the worlds beauty! xo

I'm sorry to hear this, Jean. I participate in swaps for the same reasons. I like creating things for others and I always hope they like what I make. Farm girls are very caring people on this forum and I'm sorry to hear of another farm girl who is being treated unfairly.

I'm sorry that someone got her feelings hurt.
It is so much fun to receive a card or envelope with fabrics inside. I haven't been a good swapper for a few months recently. My hands hurt and are too stiff to do nice work. I used to love to tie small ribbon bows...that is impossible mow.
I hope I have not hurt anyone's feelings...
Recently my focus has been on finding cards to mail to Darlene Riboldi.

I have received some unkindness in the past. It revolved around a misunderstanding that crocheting 86 granny squares and make them into a sweater would only take two weeks. She has been forgiven and I will never promise something like this again without a firm understanding of the process.

I have been late many times as life has thrown me bowling balls that I am not ready to catch. More of these times will arrive for me in the future and I am making plans for it. As long as we inform each other of the delays and try to understand the things that can delay us and others, I believe we can all avoid hurt feelings. For my part, I no longer inform a third person if my partner is late or cannot return a swap. I try to let her know I understand and ask her to take her time and keep me informed. I may send her a card and some tea to lift her spirits.

It takes too much energy to be angry. It feels so good to be kind.

Marie, you are so right... It feels so good to be kind.

Remember when we had angel swappers? I was an angel swapper
One summer. One lady got so sick...and 3 ladies were her partners.
I offered to yelp her out. Earlier I had helped someone else.
And yes it felt good.

This is so sad. Farm Girls are known for their kind and giving hearts. We support and encourage one another. We should never do something to hurt others feeling. I've always had so much fun swapping. Haven't been involved due to our upcoming move and I've missed it. We all do the best we can and life happens. We should be more understanding and loving. That's what being a Farmgirl is all about. At least that is what I have found in the many years I've been here.

Angels have been great help in past swaps. All it takes to be an Angel is to let the swap host know that, if needed, you can help out by filling in for a swapper who is having problems and can't complete the swap. Of course, that also means that if you are having problems completing a swap, you need to let the host know so that she can ask an angel to step in and help. This a great idea and works well.

Hey everyone! I’m new here, just started swapping about six months ago. It has been a blast and wishing I had started years ago. I loved reading about all of the swaps and the chatter and couldn’t wait to be a part of the fun. In the beginning I had a few disappointments but then read the “swap etiquette” post. That helped me realize that yes, life happens, and we have no idea what the circumstances are. When that happens we should just say a prayer for that sister because God knows the need. I do love all of the crafting, swapping and chatting, and the Angel swappers sounds like a great idea! I would be very happy to help out when needed.

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

I am in agreement here with all the sentiments expressed. MJF swaps are meant to be fun and once it leaves that realm, feelings can be hurt which is never the intention here. I hope the Farmgirls remember that this community needs everyone to flourish and we need to keep that idea front and center for all of us here. Nobody coming here should feel disrespected. We all have a hand in keeping this special forum open and friendly. It is who we are!@

Well said Jean, There is no reason on earth a farm girl should be made to feel bad or inadequate. We all have our crosses to bear in life and they are a lot easier it they are shared with other. Please be kind everyone, you never know what the next person is going through.

If I am running late, I send an email or answer an email to let a Farmsister know that something has delayed me. In some emergency situations that's not always possible. I have MS. My days change fast some weeks, I do try to communicate my situation.
I dont do swaps as much as I use to, especially in Summer, that's the worst season for my MS.
I do love too, making things for others.

Dear Farmgirls,

Oh no. I think this must have been me. I apologize if I made a comment that upset ANYONE! First off, not my intention. Our mail has been AWFUL. When my swap partner emailed me that she sent something out I emailed her over a week later to let her know it had not come, only thinking that another box was lost AGAIN in our mail. I also emailed my partner to see if she was okay as I did not hear if she got the box I sent. (When I checked the tracking, it had said “customer requested redelivery”, which I have no idea what that means). I should have gone back and put more detail in my comment on the swap thread, which came across in a way that it was not meant to!

I was hoping my box made my swap partner happy, and happily put a lot of thought into it. Did not mean to make it sound like she was ungrateful, or anything like that. I just hoped it made it to her. Not sure who all I have upset, but please know that I was not trying to be unkind. So please, farmgirls, please forgive me. I certainly did not mean to start anything. So sorry.

Love you all!

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Hugs to the distressed Farmgirl. I'm surprised that happened here. I know I seem to be consistently late and everyone's been so nice about it. I also sometimes receive things late (or not at all) and that's ok. I love to create and give; that's what our swaps are about. We all have various skill levels. We all have issues that come up suddenly and disrupt our lives. We all need to be patient and understanding with each other.

This reminds me of the card I received about 10 months too late. It was post marked at the correct time...but took its sweet time in the postal system. Connie and I have had mail finally reach us after a month or so.
I've learned to forgive and forget about lots of things. Besides it is so exciting when you receive an unexpected card or parcel in your mail box.

Many of us have been experiencing bad mail delivery services; often over a month to send a package. There is a swap ettiquette page and I hope we all follow those rules.

Hugs to all swappers. We all love receiving farmgirl homemade items in our mail boxes.

Oh my, sorry to hear this. Mail delivery has been so bad for so long. And sometimes things/life just get in the way. Swaps are supposed to be fun. I've always been happy with what people send. I love reading notes when people send them so I started sending notes with swaps. I love when someone send something extra so I send something extra when I can. I hope this works out and people can enjoy swaps.
