So, as we speak (so to speak!) there are 55 little cheeping balls of fuzz in a huge rubbermaid container in my mudroom. They are SO darling! 40 Buff Orpington chicks and 15 Aurucanas (sp?). I just picked them up today, and my almost-4-year-old is CRAZY about them. He's so gentle, and has run in to me about fifty times saying, "Come, mama, and look at the little sweeties!" I just love little chicks. HAPPY SPRING!!!

XOXO, Libbie

I love them too. We have hatched about 200 so far this year. Hatching is my favorite thing about having chickens. We have about 30 or so more hatching right now. So much fun!!!

Libbie, aren't they cute! It's surprising how much noise the little things can make, lol. So sweet.

Thanks, farmgirls! You're right - they ARE darling, and my little guy just LOVES them. He calls them his little sweetie-girls now, and gets right into their area and has learned to hold them very gently. I caught him rubbing one on his cheek today!

XOXO, Libbie

Oh, chicks are so fun. I wish you lots of blessings (and future eggs!!) I took a break from it this year with so many other things going on. It's such a neat experience for the kids. We borrowed an incubator last year and that was very cool. Their hatching lasted for a few days and I was up and down for two nights "delivering" chicks. Have Fun and share pictures when you can!!

Blessings,

Missy

All of this talk of little cheeping balls of fluff pulls at my heartstrings! I want chickens. That's all there is to it. Libbie, you are so fortunate to be in a place where you can do this! Do post pics when you get the chance!

Okay - I finally recharged my camera's batteries, and I'll try to get some good ones of my babes today - the small fuzzy ones and the bigger, redheaded one, too! I just LOVE this time of year!!!!!

XOXO, Libbie
