I am really getting on this bandwagon, but man are they expensive! Freeze drying saves about 97% of the nutrients, and the food can last up to 25 years. With rising food costs, if I can preserve food at the current price and save for 10 years I will come out ahead, right? You can see I am trying to justify the cost LOL I watched several videos, and one gal had freeze dried thick ham slices, and scalloped potatoes. You basically just add hot water and eat. Appears to be similar to the miltary MRE's and survival foods, but those MRE choices don't look too appetizing. Anyone have one of these? Would love feedback.

The price tag has turned me off. They do sound good but I can't justify the cost. I have a regular dehydrator with round trays. That's good enough for me for now. I can't see myself eating freeze dried scalloped potatoes! Plain potatoes I would do.

I'd love one too, but right now it's on my "one day" list. Too much for my current budget.
