We're headed to the Smoky Mountains. 3 nights in North Carolina so we can visit a ruby mine nearby. We've gone many times to this mine but have never camped there. A few years ago hubby found a 45 kt. ruby that we had cut for me for a ring. After it was cut it was 20 kt. Still beautiful. I'll take a picture when I get it out of the safe.
We leave Wednesday for the Tennessee side of the Smoky's. (3 nights there) Pigeon Forge. I'm not one for such a busy/touristy town for camping but it will be new for us. We always stay in Cherokee on the NC side. Which I love - it's so quiet there and peaceful.
I want to do lots of hiking and some fishing.
I'm excited to go. I've got my menu all planned, almost have my clothes packed and just about everything else is in the trailer. My anniversary is Sunday and my birthday is Thursday.
I am counting the days (two weeks) until I am off on a solo thrifting, antiquing, and sewing trip no more than two hours from home. My go to is typically the White Mountains of NH but the major airlines have stopped flying into the airport I like for the time being. I started a new job in March, and for the last six months - no vacation days. I need a break!
