When I send out swaps, I always include one of my handmade tea bag folded stars.
This one is made of four different paper tea bag envelopes.
So many people have expressed and interest in learning to make them that I have started this thread to more easily remember who wants to learn.
This one was made from pieces of a hand written note.
Anyone can post here who wants a photocopy of a small book of instructions, a supply of pre-cut paper, some samples and a list of tips.
This one is made of pieces of the same tea bag envelope.
I would like a donation of $5 for postage or a small gift such as
- inexpensive note cards - small memo pads - pretty pens - fist-sized balls of scrap yarn (any kind) that is no longer needed - small sewing kits - stickers (non-religious designs) = hankies
This one is made from 8 different colored squares selected for color.
Give me a couple days to create my list of tips.
This one is made of pieces of hand writing and an advertisement.
Sign up here. I will message when the packet is ready for the address if I don't have it already. I will message after I have sent it out with the tracking number.
Sign up first and wait to send me a gift or money AFTER the package is received.

When I was the art teacher, I was teaching my third grade students to make some simple origami shapes. Some caught it quickly, some had a bit more trouble. At that moment in the door came 12 Japanese high school students! They were not much taller than the third graders, mostly girls. But they quickly got to work and helped every child. Their broken English was delightful to hear. ( they had come to the small town I was teaching in because they had been interacting with one of the high school classes, on line! The teacher brought them over to our building. That was fun for us all. Fast forward about fifteen years and I was subbing at a tiny country school. One of my former students had three boys, all in school there. The middle one was so neat. He was a seventh grader. The things he had made with origami and paper were amazing...like a ball that grew into a large open work round shape. He had brought each new project to show his math teacher. I was facinated. I asked him who taught him. No one! He had gone on line, found some basics, then some more advanced projects. He kept saying it was easy. His mom had bought some colored paper for him to use. He was such a talented kid.

This is an update on where I am with this.
I have to write the tip sheet. Once I have that done, I will start making copies and sending the packets out.
Please be patient.

Hello! Love making origami paper pretties out of my empty teabags! So happy to "meet" a fellow teabag folder. I haven't made bunches of them but I also love to use these as tuck-ins. Sometimes the folded models still have a hint of the tea to them. Have a blessed day!

Marie . . . Sounds wonderful. Please include me. I love all forms of Oragami and have made hundreds of cranes. I always include the legend of the cranes with them. Thanks for doing this. Do you prefer cash or gift?? jean
