I spotted this variation of a man's shirt.. for an apron.. It is an Amy Brackerman/Brickerman pattern...![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2020/06/apron.png?v 57835733) but you know me,, I will try anything,, on my own.. lol! I found the shirt at the Thrift, for .99cents, it was a man's size XL short sleeve.. I suggest getting the largest size and long sleeves..
![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2020/06/DSCF8749.jpg?v 44928268) You can make the straps from the sleeves,, I had to use the front shirt panels.. I also removed the pocket and sewed it onto the 'back' which is the apron front. I made the 'ties' by folding the fabric... and I sewed the apron body on my serger. I think, after having made this It would be worth buying the pattern for the fine tuning of the apron..

![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2020/06/DSCF8756.jpg?v 511286) I used a wee bit of black lace around the neck line..
![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2020/06/DSCF8758.jpg?v 65158001) here is the back side.. and yes,, Kiki wanted to be in the photo..![](icons/icon_smile.gif)

Good idea with the apron; it came out great.I may have to try that if I can ever get to a thrift shop. DH's shirts are too worn out by the time he is done with them.

Judith, I figured, for .99cents,, if it did not turn out,, I still had enough fabric for cleaning rags.
Oh and I attached snaps in stead of having to make button holes for the straps.

LOVE it!!! I think it would be cute if you use the front of the shirt for the front too. That way the buttons would show down the front. Here's the one I made for my mother in law:

Grace, that turned out nice. Men’s shirts really come in handy. I made a sleep sake for Everleigh out of one of my hubbies old shirts. It didn’t last long because now she is potty trained and has to be able to get up and go potty. Oh well, I’m still keeping it lol!

Heather, I like how yu decorated yours with lace trim and a hankie pocket...
Krista,, What a great idea to use your DH's shirt for Everleigh's sleep sack.. hmmm, maybe you can now use it to store sweet memories of her's, like a stuffed animal or special outfit...

In this warm weather I've thought of just wearing my apron and a pair of fancy ruffled panties.

The problem is I can't find any ruffled panties in adult sizes. Probably a good thing.

That would be a great idea, Judith. Make some bloomers with ruffles on the legs and on the derriere. LOL! That would be a cute go-to-the-store outfit. LOL! I've been wanting to make me some bloomers. Just what this 70 year old gal needs, eh?
I have a pattern I made years ago for a split skirt. I think if I cut down the skirt a bit and gather at the bottom a bit I may be able to turn it into bloomers. Hmmmmmmm - we'll see. If you want the pattern number I can go look and maybe you can find it on eBay or maybe they have a Simplicity bloomer pattern.

I think there is a pattern in one of the older MJF magazines... or maybe it was an ad..
but, I did see (some time back) a pattern for bloomers made out of 2 large pillow cases...now I wish I could remember where I saw that pattern.. 'Of all the things I miss the most... I think it is my mind"... snorks-n-giggles...

ok,, couldn't find the pattern,, but I suspect an easy P.J. pant pattern, modified would work.. Wish I had 2 old King sized pillow cases.. but then again,, one could use an old bed sheet or???
![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2020/06/xpntln.jpg?v 63437577) oh,,, how cute to stitch some old hankie pieces over the ruffle... or
![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2020/06/xpntaln.jpg?v 58800035) how cute is this.. the ideas are endless... (photos 'borrowed' from internet search)![](icons/icon_smile.gif)

I had a pair of bloomers a long time ago. They were white with big red polka dots. I wore them when the gals in my college boarding house had an entry in the homecoming parade. I have made several fancy petticoats for historical recreation costumes. I love making them with all the tucks and lace.
