OMG! I am so far behind. I guess that's what happens when I post office gets burned and everyone is afraid to go to work. Things are better now. Every park in the city now has an encampment for those who do not have a place to live. There are two such camps in the park at the end of the block.

I love the fabric.

Marie, are the folks in the parks good law abiding citizens of the USA or are they protestors and trouble makers?
If they are good citizens are they being helped to find permanent housing?)

Most of those in the camps have been homeless for years and have been unable to connect with suitable housing. There are people there who have jobs and cannot afford housing. There are people there who have fallen through cracks in the system. So of them are becoming activists for equitable housing. Our system doesn't have enough professionals to deliver the services they need. Affordable housing is in very short supply and most places will not take people who do not have enough income or have a poor rental history. This has been going on for years. The camps used to be in an isolated area which has now been cleared out because of the civil unrest which most of them did not participate in. Now it is in everyone's back yard.

I suspect that this situation is the same in most cities in the US. In Minnesota, people tend to speak up more about it and try to find solutions.

Marie, thank you for answering my question.
It is so sad. When i see pictures of people on the streets of big cities, sleeping in doorways or on park benches when it is cold and snow is falling...it breaks my heart.
In the past twenty years I know of only two men here in our small town. One lived under a bridge the other deep in a pecan orchard.
There are plenty of very wealthy men who could have banded together in every town in America to provide some housing for those folks. I realize that many have a drug or alcohol problem...but they need a hot shower, a hot meal, a nice warm bed, and a Bible to read. Gradually They can be given jobs..
Such as helping keep the city or town clean, the grass cut, weeds gone.
How many elderly people would love to have their homes repainted, their windows repaired and cleaned. These homeless can learn to work alongside another human being to help others in their community. I hope someone will see this need and help out.
