Our governor has said we can go back to church---I don't think it is safe to do so. And why are people so worried about hair and nails and tattoos. My friend is going to drive to Tennessee to eat out with his cousin. Have we all gone mad?---LOL. I think I will just stay in my holler and be safe. What do you girls plan---run out as soon as things open ; or stay home.?

I think I will be very careful where I go and when. A person really doesn't know what to believe. Good thing I'm happy at home. Nancy Jo

We have to wear masks whenever we go out here in IL. A very wise precaution that we take seriously. One of our friends is an infectious diseases specialist and researcher, we follow her advice and yes, it isn't safe to go back to normal yet. I hope everyone uses common sense and stays healthy & safe!

I have to stay home right now any way but wearing a mask is good. I have been doing swaps and painting rocks and that keeps me occupied and happy.

Churches are exempt from the closures. They are discussing all of that now. Technically ours has not closed but everyone has been staying home. There are only a couple who attend and they are social distancing. We are thinking about going. I would guess that we will be very careful when things open up, but honestly we only go out when necessary anyway. Where we live it is not densely populated and I don't imagine much will change here.

I have to chime in here. Everyone is complaining that we are moving too fast to reopen our economy for hair and nails. No disrespect but this is trivializing the situation. Yes the situation is serious but if you ask a parent who hasn't worked since the lockdown I doubt the concern is hair and nails but rather buying food and paying bills.
The ones I know that fear we are moving too fast have steady paychecks either due to pensions or that their job was deemed essential. I am not speaking about anyone here but from my personal experience. My question would be if you are concerned about the reopening and have a steady income would you be willing to give your stimulous check to a family in need? I am not taking sides. I am just giving food for thought.

Nancy, I understand that. We have different things going on just in our immediate family. We have one working from home, one who is essential and one who now has to collect unemployment. Also, we have a homeschooling situation where not much has changed and a home distance learning situation, where all the children are at home. So, there are many different scenarios going on in our country right now. Everyone will have opinions and they will be different as we all have a different perspective right now.

As a member of our church council, we were presented with the notice from our state level association for May. They recommend that we continue to keep our doors closed. We had begun to broadcast our service online months before all this began and we will continue to so even after this has passed.

I forgot to mention, our council had been meeting virtually via "zoom".

This is just a horrible situation---either way is truly awful. I feel so sorry for those out of work and I did give money to a friend to help out and I loaned money to another friend who was in a big mess. The economy has to reopen. And yet the deaths are so terrible. I almost cry when I see those long lines for food---so sad. I hate to think of people being hungry. I would want to go back to work too. We are lucky that hubby just retired and got out of retail. Most people we know are in retail and are still working---just in masks and gloves. So miserable to do that. WE had internet church too---I see that some of our churches are having service this Sunday and others later this month. You have to leave an empty pew between people---but still that's not very far. As my cousin said to me---It's all in God's hands. We can only protect ourselves the best we can and hope for the best. I have listened to so much corona virus news that I am so tired of it, but I like to keep up with it everyday. Praying for a vaccine soon.

We're in Washington state, where the outbreak hit early on, but we're still in the most early stages of opening and will likely be one of the last states to open. I'm very happy with that, given that these measures have meant a rapid decline of the virus in our county. My synagogue has Shabbat service on Friday night via Facebook Live, and Shabbat service via Zoom on Saturday mornings. It's actually gone very well, and our community feels, in some ways, closer than ever. The women's group that I sit on the board for, Sisterhood, is holding our meetings via Zoom, and it's just so nice to see the faces of these women that are so important to me. I already worked remotely from home, so this hasn't had much of an impact on me in that respect, but I've been re-evaluating priorities and what matters in my life. It's been a good time for soul searching, prayer, and figuring out what I want the new "normal" to be for our family.
I hope you are all staying safe!

Zoom has been a great he.p to keeping me closer to my Church! Stay well out there, pray unceasingly, and Happy Mother’s Day!

I'm in Tennessee - it seems that quite a bit has opened up here. We're not in hurry in our home. Will probably be quite awhile before I feel comfortable to go out to eat again. We have church via Facebook live - I guess some churches are opening but ours has said they will wait until June 7 or 14th to re-open. We will most likely still be home watching it online. I have my Mom here with me now and she had 1/3 of her lung removed last year - we can't take any chances.
