Hi Ladies,
Have any of you ladies done socks on a circular needle? It's call the magic loop pattern. You need a 40 " needle sz. 2 for ribbon, and 3 for the rest of the sock.
You do you cast on sts. of 48 knit one row, split (24 sts. on each needle) place marker, and knit in the round. Bring needle up and around the front to work off of the stitches facing you. Now that's the only way I would make sock is on a circular needle. I would post a picture of my sock but don't know how to do it. You can do any pattern that's done on double pointed needles and do same pattern on a circular needle. It's wicked fun to do. On my heel flap I did a slip one knit one across, on pearl side I slip first stitch and pearl across, the tricky part in picking up the stitches for the gusset. I got better at that part to. I am on my second pair. I think it is the only way to go for me! I am almost up to turning the heel on my husbands pair. He wants his a little longer then his boot tops. I agree the tricky part is picking up the gusset stitches. I used a crochet needle to do that. Enjoy your socks. Michele

I have friends who do toe-up circular socks, and I have to admit that it looks fun. But I am too in love with my double-points to change!

Well I've never tried double pointed needles. It looks complicated. But it's what ever your use to doing. Maybe someday I'll try it. Wanda

THey look trickier than they are....you are really only using two of them at a time and knitting around the circle. Pretty easy once you get started.
