We have opossums visit our yard on a regular basis. We used to have one larger than most big cats. They and the local raccoons love to go through the recycle bin in the carport for things like a butter container or peanut butter one where they can take off the lid and scrape the insides for tidbits! They will also eat any and all cat or dog food left outdoors for you outdoor pets.

Great article, Nicole! We, too, have opossums visiting our yard from time to time. I was really misinformed myself, until last year when one was trapped in our back yard. I don't know how true it is, but I was also told that they eat stink bugs! If that's the case, I'm ALL IN in love!! LOL! Hugs - Nini.

I loved reading about the possums for sure. I no longer see them as ugly. In fact I poked a little one up a little tree the other night and I noticed how cute his little feet where. If they eat ticks I am all for them. Am I turning into Ernest T. Bass from Andy Griffith---out poking possums with a stick? LOL. They have grown tired of eating our popcorn and don't come as much as they did. I think they stuff out and then lay up and sleep.

Poking Possums! Love it. I loved that show. Try giving them some fruit. I have not seen my little friend lately, but they are elusive.
