It was hot here on Saturday. my thermometer read 90! I couldn't believe it. My peach & nectarine trees are in full bloom as well as my spring flowers. I took some photos of the tree blooms & a few happy bees getting all of the pollen they could. Their legs were covered. Looked like pea size pellets on each back leg. Never noticed that until I got my digital camera. Now I just need to figure out how to put them on here.

It got up to 65 here today and that is warm for March. I don't like anything over 80.....it is much easier to work when it is cooler outside.
May God bless those who love the soil,
Patsy

sorry jo... I guess I shouldnt complain. Just abnormally warm for March. We go from cold to hot so quickly... not much in between. I wouldn't trade it for the 2.9 though. Brrrr!

My thermometer hit 72 today! It was just perfect - I think I may have a few more freckles on my nose to prove it! I just love the return of spring and summer, especially now that I have a VERY energetic little one. It was such a relief when he was all tired out by bedtime, and he just wanted to sleep. That's what running all over, lambing and trying to get some garden beds ready for planting will do to a little boy, I guess. Come to think of it, I think it's done the same thing to me!
XOXO, Libbie

Wow. I am definitely not a Southern girl - 90 degrees already would just about be the end of me, and I do enjoy having all four seasons! ;-) It got to around 60 here today, but there is still plenty of snow on the ground that needs to melt away. We won't have consistently warm weather for at least another month...that part can get a little tough to deal with by this point in the year. This afternoon while I was out enjoying the sunshine, I did notice that there are little green bits poking out of my garden beds though! |

Hey FarmGirl~K after enduring a "freeze' here in SoCal, we now have our usual weather back, though for nearly a week we too had weather in the very high 80's (89 degrees) wow, we so needed it. Out came the flipflops, Tommy Bahama shirts & sunglasses. Now the weather is back into the low 70's. I did manage to get my seeds in the ground last weekend as well as some pruning. It's always good to spend a day in my "Garden of Weedin', LOL! tata-4-now

It's finally warmer here now too. Although cooler than where we went on vacation. We just got back from Daytona Beach FLorida! And it was so nice. I love the ocean! I also got to see my sis, Farmgirl K in Texas. Thankfully I wasnt there when it hit 90. I dont think my Colorado acclimated body could handle that yet!

It has cooled off a little from the 90 & has been closer to 80 with cooler nights. Much more enjoyable! I have been enjoying it though, because before long it will be really hot, hot, hot!! Over 100 degree hot for most of the summer. last summer we broke a record for the # of consecutive days over 100. While it may not be that great, I do thank God for A/C during that time!! We were w/o for part of that time & it was almost unbearable, until all 5 of us went to sleep in one of the kids rooms. We had a window unit there. Spring is short and the summers long. Kind of the opposite from living in NY, we had long winters then. So I understand the feeling of being ready for warmer weather. If only I could send some your way!

We are still chipping the ice off of everything from this weekend's storm! Two days before it was 72! Crazy, crazy, crazy! On Saturday we couldn't drive down any sideroads for fear of sliding into a ditch! The snow and sleet just kept alternating and now we have about 4 " of packed crunchy ice! Where is Spring?

Hi all, Well, of course, I am going the other way! Up until 3 days ago, it was still beach weather here, very hot and sweaty. But two days ago, I was splitting my first kindling for the season. I must admit, I miss fires during summer - roll on winter, I say!!! Today, it is quite chilly and the fire is going, keeping me cosy. I also have a cold, which is a pain. Happy spring planting everyone and I'll keep choppping wood! Best wishes, Jayne |
