We've been working on our backyard for several months now and things are really starting to hum. It took a few months before the animals trusted the new water source aka water fountain.
They didn't like it when the water was running so I turned it off. It took another few weeks before they finally gave it a try.
Now, every day morning, noon and dusk there are birds and squirrels eating and drinking in their little habitat.
I open the blinds every morning to see the activity for the day. Some days we have new visitors. But, most days it's the same gang of regulars.
Want to follow along with me and share your own backyard wildlife habitat happenings with me in my Facebook group?
You're invited to join the fun here and share any tips with us all.

A certified wildlife habitat backyard has been a goal of mine for a while. One of our county parks occasionally has talks on this topic; my family and I just attended one yesterday about attracting native bees. Evidently there are 444 native bee species in Indiana, more than half of all the native species in the US!

I don't even have to try lol!! We aren't certified, but I think we do pretty well. We have deer, raccoons, possum, ground hogs, turkeys, bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks,of course skunks, fox and an occasional coyote. Every bird you can think of so many types of wood peckers,my beloved owls, then the Humming birds I love them, honey bees and bumble bees,(don't like the wasps!}my beautiful butterflies and my dragonflies. It is a circus out here. But we love it. Oh yes and of course our resident stray cat! We have 43 acres, and it is just full of everything. I feel so blessed to have all this everyday. There is always something to watch and feed. Winter is never dull. Oh, we also have a big garden(flowers, not veggies) area and we put two little ponds in it. we have some big gold fish that winter just fine in it. They are getting big! And my favorite, frogs,I love them!! You know what? I never really realized how special all this is,until I just wrote all this down. You have brought me a new appreciation of all of this. Thank you. I hope all of you realize your dreams and enjoy the wild life. It is so precious, many don't understand just how precious. I am glad all of us do.

This is something I have wanted to do also. I already have wild life similar to Mary Jane's post just above this. Hoping I can do more to attract different birds & butterflies.

Sue, Mary Jane and Andrea you all sound like you enjoy nature as much as I do. We should post pictures of our wildlife. I'll try to catch a shot before they know I'm there.
I now have a window flower box outside my craft room where we placed a dish with food for the birds and squirrels. And a little wheel barrow that was my daughter's when she was little filled with water nearby. I have to walk in the room slowly now so I don't scare them off. Then they stay for a bit until they decide I'm too close for comfort even through the window. Giggle!
