I have never heard of these yo-yos, but I can tell I'm going to be completely hooked, very quickly! I love the idea of something to take with me for those little extra moments. Thank you for all the inspirations!!

Oh Jill, they can be addicting! lol! and yes, the perfect little 'tuck-n-tote' project to take on trips, or to the doctors office while you wait.. even to the hair saloon, while sitting under the dryer... oh wait, does anyone do that anymore? lol!
FYI,, I like the idea for that red tote bag.

I use to store my yoyos in large jars,, but have changed over to light weight storage cubes,, and then just label them, then store them on the shelves in my craft room.
I always have yoyos handy, just incase,,
to decorate a mini apron or...
to make hat/purse pins... (I haven't finished the blue one yet)
Did I mention, I Luv YOYOS? heeheehee...

I was able to stitch up a couple dozen more YOYOs over the weekend.. after all,,, one can never have enough YOYOs...
I probably should figure out what to make with them... LOL!
Oh and just a little FYI,, if you decide to decorate the top bands of a pair of Flip Flops,, be sure to use Button thread or strong quilting thread,, trust me,I learned the hard way,,, several years ago I did so, but used regular cotton thread.. and my Glamping gal pals were finding my YOYOs all over the camp site! LOLOL!

Wow, I better get busy making some YoYos!! Grace, I love how yours look so colorful and pretty separated by colors! I have used them when I embellish a kitchen towel that I make or mug rugs for swaps. They make instant flowers with endless color possibilities!!

my sister and I were adopted to two different families. We met when I was 56. When she found out I was a quilter, she gave me a bag of yo yos from her grandmother. Guess I'll have too put them together.

I made some yo-yo flowers with buttons in the centers and ribbons for stems. Then I sewed them onto a piece of fabric to make a valance for my mother in laws kitchen window. Maybe you could do something similar for your trailers Grace.

Oh My Stars! Heather,,, I LUV it!!! Thank you for the photo,,(so we can 'steal' your idea!)
I was thinking of decorating a toss pillow, by sewing yoyos on the front side,, but then remembered, I did that some years back for my Shabby Chic trailer,, which has now been transformed,,, again! lol!
But that being said,, I might make a 'wine bottle' coaster, for a friend's trailer... Hmmm, 'sew' many great ideas!

I stitched the ribbon on. Some are straight stitch some are zig zag depending on the ribbon. I saw a little picture in a catalog that had a group of 3 yo-yo flowers and some ribbon stems. It was framed but no glass and for the price I figured I'd just make my own - it turned into a valance instead LOL!!!
I made my little nieces an apron for Christmas and thought they needed just a little something extra - so I did what Grace would do - added a yo-yo and a button and they looked much better! I'm becoming a bigger fan of yo-yo's but I'm not sure I'll ever have the stash you do!!!! That's quite impressive.

I have yet to try making YoYo’s- but have always liked the look of them. So before I look for a you tube video, any pointers for someone who has not made them before ? Can I use any kind of fabric? Thank you Farmgirl sister 4202 Danyel |

light weight cotton is the best fabric to use... I us an old CD as my template, trace and cut... I make a stack/stash of fabric circles to work on.
Hold your fabric with the wrong side facing you,, then with your thumb, fold over the edge about a 1/4".. and do a running stitch,, fold stitch, fold stitch... you get the idea. Then gently cinch up the thread until it makes a circle puff,, flatten it, tie off your thread and Voila' you have a YoYo.
Check out 'pinterest' under 'yoyos' for some great ideas...

here is a quick visual I found on pinterest..
hope this helps..
You can also buy 'yoyo' templetes by Clover,,, but honestly, I prefer the free hand method.

I don't know how I missed this. I love yoyos! I have a huge tin full. I was going to make a garland for Christmas but never got to it. I did make snowman ornaments. I think I'll try decorating some Easter eggs for my egg tree. I haven't made any new eggs in years. Maybe I'll make a garland fo Easter. This is really fun. Heather, I love your valence and I bet you made mucho points with the MIL! LoL!

Thank you Grace! I like the idea of using an old CD. Might make them of decent enough size, since I am just starting. I also like the picture tutorial. I have an item that was purchased at an auction made from yo-yos - I will post a picture once I find it, it needed some mending.
