Today was a beautiful day in Wisconsin. The second one in a row. Blue skies, full sun, 40's, no wind and the huge snow piles melting fast enough, for the frozen ground to thaw, to abosorb the run off. You can hear them melting. But best of all the birds are staring to return to the feeders. We have been very blessed with 5 types of woodpeckers all winter and the nuthatches here and there. BUT!!!! Saturday a beautiful pair of hawks flew over head and landed in a tall pine outside my window. I watched as the tree swung under their weight. Wondering if they will be returning to that tree, to nest as they did before we built the house. Then this morning the BlueJays, Cardinals and Morning Doves appeared. The outdoors is just a symphony of song. The smell of the air is breathtaking. Spring is in the air. The flowers are on their way and the seed catalogs are as numerous as the credit card offers. Our forecast for the next week is sunny and 40. My Heavenly Father has truly blessed me. Oh Give Thanks

It was a beautiful day here as well. As I was getting my grandson out of his crib this morning I heard the birds just chirpin away outside his window. I opened the window and told him to listen to the birdies singing! He clapped his hands and we both thanked God that spring is on its way! Susan |

Every year I love to see the birds come back-but the two that are the most eagerly anticipated are the hummingbirds, and the phoebes who nest on my porch every year.

I agree...the birds are definitely coming back! I saw a chickadee yesterday, and we have a bunch of blue jays and gray jays that like to hang out in my yard. I've also discovered a friendly woodpecker in my neighbor's tree - he's a pretty industrious bird, and likes to tap away every morning!

Last Wednesday was the first robin sighting of the season. Spring can't be too far away.
May God bless those who love the soil,
Patsy

I cannot imagine how those woodpeckers do not get a head ache with all that pounding. Their brains must be very well insulated not to be damage from all the shaking. Another Great day in the high 40's. Tuesday in the 60's they say. Weeeeeeeee I love the spring tease. Makes me want to ride my motorcycle.

We heard and then saw two groups of cranes flying overhead on their way to Wisconsin. Lovely! |

Oh, I just LOVE hearing about the return of the birds to all of your areas. This morning, the robins are going crazy here - just flying all over and making their unique calls early, early, EARLY in the morning. It seems like they're competing with the roosters! And then, over the last week or so, the meadowlarks have returned, and last week, I heard the redwing blackbirds down by the canal. They are so beautiful, and they really signal the return of the farming season here. I love it!!! It's supposed to be in the 70's here today, and my whole body is breathing a sigh of relief at the end of the coldest part of the year. Some folks thrive on the cold weather, but I sure do need the return of the warmth to be at my best!
XOXO, Libbie

Spring has arrived in Western WA! As I was driving around yesterday I noticed lots of trees in bloom, daffodils everywhere, and forsythia blooming. I've been seeing lots of fat little Robins too. I love Spring and can't wait until it's warm and dry enough to plant.

Right now everyone is hiding in bushes and cover because of the snow and ice but in the past few weeks I have seen robins and a friend has a bluebird.
