Hi Farmgirls,
Y’all know I love to bake. I am feeling better today (fall cold), and have a bit of a “free” day. It is drizzly and grey - a great day to bake! I am going to make a favorite recipe for spice roll out cookies and use vintage “cooky cutters”.
Aren’t these the cutest little things? My husband bought this box of vintage cookie cutters for me because he knows I love Halloween and vintage. They aren’t terribly big, and the shapes are so cute. I love the graphics on the box.
I think they are so stinking cute! I have them displayed for Halloween on my Hoosier cabinet, using a plate holder stand.
These are the yummy cookies, so great for fall:
Spice Roll Outs
3 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp soda 1/2 salt 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp allspice 2 sticks (1 cup) butter 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, packed 1/2 cup sugar 2 large eggs 2 tsp vanilla
Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices. In a large bowl, using a mixer with medium speed, beat butter and sugar and brown sugar until creamy (about three minutes). Reduce speed to low and beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Beat in flour mixture.
Refrigerate 4 hours, up to one week..
Roll dough into 1/8 inch thick, cut with floured cutters, and place on parchment paper lined sheets. Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Enjoy! I used to make these for my dd’s elementary school and shape them into leaf shapes. THey are a good cookie plain, but you can frost or add sugars. 1 tsp nutmeg

I think you are right -- it's a cooky day. I'm going to dig out my cooky cutters and get to work.

I made my cookies with Plant Butter (someone will be eating them with a dairy allergy, so I had to substitute for real butter), and did not have time for it to chill....they came out perfectly! The shapes are adorable...just the right size- not too big or too small. How cute things were back then!
