Hey ladies! I am in search of empty shot gun shells. In particular the metal ends. So the color of the rest does not matter. I am needing them to make a Christmas present for my husband and dad. Do any of you have any or have husbands who will be using shotgun shells in the near future with hunting coming up and could save them for me? I am needing a good amount. Probably around 100. So any amount would help. Let me know! Thank you!

I can start saving them for you Krista. We are in the central flyway migration for geese and ducks and get lots of waterfowl hunters asking to hunt on our land. One of our rules is you clean up your empty shotgun shells. I will just ask them to drop off their empties at the farmhouse when they are done for the day.

May I ask what you are making or is it a secret? We never shoot guns---so no shells here. Although my husband has six guns for emergencies. I have never shot a gun---although I tell people I carry a big old gun around down here in the holler to scare people---LOL>

Krista do you need the low profile metal part or the taller one, or doesn't it make a difference.

Julie, to be honest I dont know. I dont know much about shotgun shells and I dont want to ask my husband because it will give it away. I'll share a picture of what I'm making so that should hopefully help.

Barbara, its only a secret to my dad and husband lol! I am painting large wood letters and attaching the shotgun shell ends to the letters and then adding some twine so it can hang. I will make a B for my dad since his last name is Butters and a D for my husband since our last name is Davis!

Looks like either one wil work as long as they are all the same. I will keep saving all the ones I get. It is early goose season here so I already have 10.

Thanks Barbara. When I first seen the picture, I just knew I had to make some. I am so excited to make them. I hope they turn out just the way I imagine.

No. I'm still looking, but only found one more. Amazingly I think I found a half a box of fully loaded shells. My husband was surprised!

Krista... just a thought, is there a local outdoor shooting club/range? If so you could check with them for shot gun spent shells.

As for me... I like the letter "B "... maybe I can make one out of used wine corks! Heeheehee!

Grace, thanks for the idea. I'm going to see what I can find. I'll see if my mom knows of any. I'm also going to ask my friends on Facebook.

Ooo I like that idea. Wine corks would be nice and make a nice kitchen decoration.

Hey ladies! Have any of you found anymore? I'm not having any luck with my Facebook friends. I may need to change my plan and make something else.

Hi Krista,
I have a coffee can full for you. Send me your address and I will get them in the mail next week. Many of our hunters have cancelled because of the crappy weather, so I am not sure how many more I will get.

I mailed a box off to you yesterday Krista. As far as something in return, if you have a hat and mitten tree in your town would you please make a hat for it on my behalf. Good luck with your ornaments.

Thank you Julie! I will keep an eye out for it. I'm not sure what a hat and mitten tree is. What is it?
