I decided to do a topic on Lyme and sleep issues since it has been a problem for me the last 15 years.

My lack of sleep got worse 7 years ago when our A/C went out and we had to use window units.

Fast forward 3 years ago we got central A/C again. No more noise at night keeping me awake.

But, I could not sleep through the night still.

I have tried every natural option my doctor's could think of and they would work for a week or so and then back to not sleeping.

So, finally I switched to a Functional Medicine doctor in Dec. 2017.
He also tried different sleep remedies all natural.

The same results occurred. Then we tried neurotransmitters again.

I only needed them for a few weeks and it balanced my brain to where I can now sleep normal again. Wahoo!

I than God every morning for a good nights sleep. I had to get rid of all stress and anything that was weighing on my mind and that helped a lot.

I also play a lull-a-by tune every night for one hour very soft.

I do deep breathing for a few minutes.

I relax my muscles starting at my feet and work my way up to my neck.

Finally, I say four words slowly that have helped me fall asleep.

Calm, Quiet, Heavy, Rest (repeat until I feel relaxed)

If you are having sleep issues with Lyme I hope this will help you too.

I've had sleep issues also. What I finally found is recorded books; somebody reading to me puts me to seep. I also have a lavender sleep pillow. I don't know if it actually helps or just smells good.
What are neurotransmitters?

well that is interesting. I have not been sleeping worth a darn for a while. It has been a couple--5 years or so since i had lymes. Getting rid of stress would be nice. I wake up thinking of work and other peoples problems, that i can do nothing about.

Hi ladies---my husband has been sick all summer. We suspect he has lyme disease, but can't get any help from doctors. What were your symptoms? I would really like to know so that we can compare with his.

Hi Barbara,

I recently found Dr. Richard Horowitz book and videos on YouTube. I'd highly recommend getting his books.
He is an MD and his wife has had Lyme disease for over 20 years. He knows how to do the right tests and what treatment to use for each persons test results.

I recently found out that I have the Babesia parasite active which is from Lyme. I also have a Mycoplasma and need to address both of these with my functional medicine doctor.

If you live in NY state or are near to Dr. Horowitz I'd give them a call. He is the best!

In the book it gives you a questionare with all the symptoms Lyme gives you. If you get a high score then you should seek help from a Lyme literate doctor or functional medicine doctor immediately. The quicker you can get on Doxycycline after you get bitten the better your chances of getting rid of the bacteria.

I'd ask your doctor to start him on Doxycycline right away. Then get the book and get the other tests it suggests. Show the 16 points to your doctor in the book. It will help them know how to treat each issue of the body that Lyme affects.

Thanks Marsha. I will check out the videos and books this morning. Another doctor visit for my husband yesterday and they finally agreed to test for it. Although I know tests don't always show if you have it. Thanks for the information. I so hope that he does not have it. He would not give him any Doxycycline until he sees the test results. His tests did reveal some kind of infection though. Doctors in southern West Virginia are not very good.

good luck to your husband Barbara. My dad had it for years, always tested negative, finally a doctor said he would treat him for it. Well he got better. When I went in, my shoulders were just aching and I just did not feel good. My dad had alot of body pain and again not feeling good. I only had it for a few weeks, my dad a few years.

Hooray---today my husband found out he tested positive for lyme disease and he gets meds for it today. We are so happy. The doctor thanked him for forcing him to test for it. He hurt mostly in his shoulders and had lots of other symptoms also. He could not stand the pain much longer. It is sad that it is so hard to gat a doctor to believe that you have it. I read an article that it is areal problem here in WV. No wonder I can't stand doctors.

I'm so happy to hear that your husband is now on meds for the Lyme. Be sure to get Dr. Horowitz book and read it. It will help you determine what other meds he might need for all his symptoms. Parasites come along with the Lyme.

I've been taking a herbal parasite protocol for 5 months now. My doctor just increased the dosage today. The Babesia parasite that comes with the Lyme is fighting back and I have symptoms of Malaria off and on at night.

Because I have been treated with herbs, homeopathic remedies and supplements for 15 years I am way ahead of the game.

Tell him the best thing to do is stay calm no matter how crazy the symptoms get. When you panic it sets off a whole chain of hormones in your body that make matters much worse and hard for the doctors to tell what's actually going on. They'll think he is just having a panic attack when in reality it is something from the Lyme.

I also will be starting a homeopathic imprint frequency just for the Mycoplasma and Babesia next week. My doctor wants me to start with the custom imprint first before we try the homeopathic for them. I'll keep you posted.

My doctor is the best functional medicine doctor around my area. I was so happy to find him so close by.

Look up one in your area and see if he can treat your husband in conjunction with the MD.

Please keep me posted on how your husband does with the treatment. I pray they can nip it in the bud.

Diet is very important. He needs to be off gluten, sugar, dairy, caffeine and alcohol.

Drink lots of purified water daily. First thing in the morning have at least 2 to 3 cups before anything else. It helps flush out your system and hydrate after sleep.

Hi Marsha---I am happy to say that my husband had his last appointment with his doctor. He is rid of his lyme disease and feeling great. HE will be on doxycycline for another six weeks. We are both so happy he got well and is able to go about his daily life without pain. We are lucky they caught it so soon.

I found a new doctor who specializes in gut health. He works with people around the world and even some celebrities.

He is very affordable. The tests can be pricey. But, they are necessary in order to heal.

So, I'm on the next stage of my Lyme healing journey.

National Candida Center in Sanford, FL Dr. Bruce Vinikas

I'm waiting for the test results to come back mid December. After that we will have a protocol for me to follow.

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Thus far I started the 21 day elimination diet. It's from the book Life After Lyme by Dr. Kristin Reihman

That's just the start of healing the gut. The food allergy test IGa and IGg come next. Then a comprehensive stool test and metal toxicity test.

It's a 5 phase program but within 6 months I should be feeling a whole lot better.

I'm so excited to have found another great doctor.

Blessings to you all on your Lyme Healing Journey.
