I have been learning new things and trying new things to keep my mind busy. Most of you know that my husband has had heart problems and is now just starting to feel better. I have to have gallbladder surgery and possible surgery to remove a mass on my kidney. On top of all of this I have lost my little 3 year old shih Tzu to a senseless crime. I have decided that I need to keep my mind active and busy in order to deal with all that is going on. I am getting so many ideas from all of you. I am thinking about making a garden in honor of my little Lilly Mae. I think a little fairy garden would be beautiful.

Hi Lori,

So sorry to hear about Lilly Mae. My prayers are with you. It is never easy to lose a best friend but such a young one makes my heart ache for you.

Oh Lori Beth I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so strange how heartache follows one thing after another. It's a horrible situation and I pray you all remain strong and healthy. I too have lost many pets, I made a rock garden in my yard and my pets are buried there. I feel them with me all the time. Prayers

Put your hair up in a bun, drink some coffee and handle it.

A lot of people think pets should not be mourned a lot---but it truly is like losing someone. Pets are so loving and such good friends. A fairy garden would be great to honor her.

Lori, do what your heart tells you to do as a remembrance for your beloved pet. When my Lizzie (cat) died after eighteen years, I felt so poorly in my heart that I had to call my pastor's wife (another cat lover) to pray for me because I was having such a hard time. Even though Lizzie has been gone for several years, I'm drawn to items that sport a similar-looking cat on it's cover (like a notebook) or whatever. She was a good companion. Now I have Maggie (a dog) who's my sidekick. I don't look forward to when she will be leaving me. She is a part of my family and she's firmly secured deep in my heart.

Margie, Thank you so much for you comment about your pet. I can see that you loved your pet like I did mine. It leaves an ache in your heart that nothing else can fill. I'm hoping someday that I will welcome a new little furbaby into my home and heart.

Life is better with friends
Thank you Katmom. I just loved that little dog so much. She was at the groomers house when groomer and her husband got into an argument. She left the house and he shot her three dogs and my Lilly Mae. He took all four dogs and threw them into the river. So far they have never been found. He is facing up to ten years in prison.

Oh no! That's so sad! Disgusting use of violence to oppress a woman who loved what she is and does! Sorry for the loss for all involved! This is why a pet violence registry is being done! Brutality and violence are abuse in whatever form! Yes the criminal act deserves the force of law to come to them! Lori I hope your heart is healing and that you will love a furbaby again soon!

Grace, he is a disgusting human being with no regard for any form of life. Lilly was only 9 pounds and was in a holding kennel when he killed her.
Winnie, she lost her three dogs in this domestic situation. Two of her dogs belonged to her mother who recently passed away from cancer.
Vicki, my husband and I are trying to get stricter laws in place on violent acts against any animal. My husband will be making an impact statement at the sentencing and will also be speaking in Columbus Ohio to get these laws strengthened. I don't want anyone else to go through this. It is awful.

Lori,

I just saw this. I am so very sorry for your loss. I lost my dog almost two years ago and I still miss him every day. I hope that horrible man gets what he deserves and more. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Your garden idea sounds like a wonderful tribute.

love and hugs,
Marcy

CeeJay, thank you so much. It was devastating. I loved that dog so much. She was with me when I had my accident and was lost in the woods and swamps for 7 days while I was in the ICU. When my husband brought her in to see me, my recovery improved. That little dog became my constant companion. I bought clothes for her and a princess bed. She was spoiled rotten. Her death was a real set back for me.

Nancy. my husband is going to make an impact statement at the sentencing. I want to see stiffer penalties for crimes against animals. Lilly Mae was more than just a dog to me. She was family. I want to see him get some serious time for this.

Marcy, thank you. She was just a few days shy of her third birthday when this happened. I hope he suffers for this. I have started a garden for her. I miss her so much. It is like a constant ache.

Hi Lori
If there is anything we can do to help your husband please ask. Any pet in a loving home IS FAMILY. A therapy pet is an extention of a person's soul and well being. I am not sure but I think I have heard in some states to harm a therapy animal is serious time.

I just lost my precious girl 9 days ago due to natural causes and I miss her so much. I can't imagine your situation but I will keep praying for you Dear One.

Nancy, I'm sorry for the loss of your pet, too. It's so hard to lose one of our furbabies. I was so attached to my little Lilly Mae. The man that shot her will be going back to court the 28th of this month. My husband and I are going to be there. His mom sold a condo to get him out of jail this time. From what I understand he could be facing 10 years or longer. I hope he does. How could he look in the face of a 9 pound dog and shoot her? She was so loving and everyone that seen her fell in love with her. I can only hope that justice will be served.
