My best friend, Rose, read me an article about Mary Jane a few years ago, then she found her book in a book club and then she bought all of the back issues of her magazine. I and our other close friends just poured over these publications. Rose's enthusiasm is infectious and I am just as excited as she about our new chapter and all the things we are planning and the ideas we hope to implement in order to revive our dying town. We want to get our own website going as an outlet for all of the talents of our members, have a float in the 4th of July parade, possibly have our own arts & crafts festival. We are open to suggestions from anyone who has ideas on how to liven things up around here and bring the tourists back. We still have some during the warmer season but not as many as we used to have. We want to make it fun for them, too.

Thanks for the welcome, Cindy, and we are EXTREMELY excited at the idea that Mary Jane might come to see us. We feel very honored that she's even considering it. We haven't even received our packet yet and we're already having fun.

Thanks, Marybeth. I am so glad to have found a group of women who have the same interests and concerns about healthful living. We felt pretty isolated here and weren't even aware that there were so many others like us. This is great.

Hi, Jenny and thanks. I used to live in West Valley but it got so bad there with gangs, drive by shootings and drugs everywhere; I had to get out. I absolutely LOVE it here. It's a little harder to garden here with the rocky ground and shorter season, but we manage. We are all VERY excited about our new farmgirl chapter. We've been wanting to form a women's club for some time now that wasn't all about gossip and Mary Jane gave us the inspiration we needed to actually get going.

Welcome Lisa! We are so glad to have you! Isn't the book wonderful! I am always full of ideas (not all of them the greatest ) and would be happy to brainstorm for you. What are the things you hope to focus on and what talents/activities do you think you would like to or are able to provide?
Beyond this, you have found a wonderful place with some very talented and wise ladies who I have enjoyed learning from! I am sure you will find plenty of inspriation here! I wish you the very best as you breath life into your comunity! I look forward to getting to know you better as I see you 'round ! Hugz, Talitha

Hi, Talitha and thanks. Well, so far we have a jewelry maker who's husband plays in a local band; a really good organizer, gardener, horsewoman; a wonderful painter; I garden and make pine needle/gourd baskets and Rose can sew up anything as well as garden, organize, bargain-shop, well Rose does more than I can even mention. We expect others to join us soon. We want to come up with events that will draw people to our town. We want to do our own arts & crafts festival but that will have to wait for next year due to time constraints. A local business puts on old west shoot outs in the summer and snowshoe races in the winter. The tourists seem to love those. We feel we need something unique and any ideas will be considered. I thought we should try a bed race but we only have 2 paved streets and they are not in very good shape. We are surrounded by national forest which brings a lot of outdoors-folks. But they seldom come into town for anything other than supplies they forgot to bring.
BUT, Rose and I will be going to the Past Blessings Antiques Fair in Fairfield, WA in May. I'll have my baskets and Rose is taking aprons she's making and some antique stuff. We hope to meet other Farmgirls from the area and get to know some of you.
