Sometimes you just need a little support and encouragement from your farm girl sisters to get the ball rolling in the right direction so you can plow through those boring jobs.
I've been trying to organize and clean my 1500 square foot home myself and it just is taking me forever to get motivated and keep going. I hired a young woman to help me keep up with the regular things I can't do on my own but that is getting to be too expensive.
So, I thought about it and came up with a great idea for how I can do it. One of my friends keeps asking me to help her do the same thing. She says she needs encouragement and support.
If you are in the same boat and would like to join me for my "Monthly Organizing Challenge" for 2019 I'd love to have your support. I will be there cheering you on every step of the way too.
I wrote a blog post for the challenge here:
https://www.marketsofsunshine.com/2018/12/organizing-challenge-for-2019.html#gpluscomments
You can sign-up for my worksheet here: Hero Adventures, to receive free worksheets that help you set your goals and keep track of your progress each month.
https://www.marketsofsunshine.com/p/newsletter-sign-up.html
I'm also going to give out prizes every quarter to those who participate and don't throw in the towel along the way.
Read all the details on my blog. I hope you'll join me.
Post below and let me know what you struggle with the most to keep your house tidy.
Mine is time. I just can't seem to devote enough time every day to cleaning. I do the dishes. Make my meals. Vacuum the floors and after that I'm all done in. I'm trying to see if I can spend at least 15 minutes a day on organizing. I'm going to set a timer when I start a project and see how I do for the rest of this month.
I'll report back to you here and in my newsletter each month.
*******Please Note: I need your permission to send you the pdf printable worksheets. Contact me via email Subject: 2019 Organizing Challenge Request the printables and I'll send them to you as soon as I get them made.

I'll join in. It is an accountability thing for me. I always feel like since we rarely have company it isn't a big deal if it doesn't get done. But honestly when I do have company it is like a race to the finish and hide what I don't know what to do with. I'd really like to get beyond that. It seems I get one area decluttered only to have another become messy because everything does not have a home.

I'm in to start in January. Having 3 little kids is what makes it the hardest for me to get around to my decluttering. We have been talking lately about buying a new house this coming summer and it would be wonderful to go through everything before hand and declutter so I won't have as much to move. I could really use the support and motivation to keep me on track for that! This will be fun.

Wahoo! Welcome to the Organizing challenge Denise and Krista. I am so happy to have you join me in this worthy adventure. You can follow my video tips on any of my social media channels.
Denise I don't get much company either. Since, I run a business out of my home online I have inventory spilling out in my living room. I need to get it all moved to the garage storage area. But, first the garage storage area has to be organized. My daughter's wedding things are still out there needing a new home. It's so hard to let go of these kinds of emotional things. I've tried posting things in garage sale groups on FB and craigslist but have only been able to get rid of a few things. I still have 3 bikes that no one uses up for sale. A small refrigerator. Vintage dishes and such. I'm about to the point of just taking these to the local hospice thrift store.
Krista - I can imagine what life is like with 3 little ones. When Kayla was little she was a whirlwind of adventure for me to keep up with. LOL I hope you find my tips and support valuable for you to declutter before your move. Support and encouragement is a necessary part of this challenge.

I would join but it would have to be a several years long organizing for me. LOL. Rock on girls and you are on the right track. I will have to plow along all by my lonesome. Will keep track of your progress and I know it will inspire me.

I am joining. My biggest challenge is motivation. I just don't see the point because I never have guests and Lowell (DH) usually doesn't notice any kind of cleaning I do. I have been told to declutter the storage space which we pay for. I have to make a special trip there to do it by public transit. Still, I could start right here in this one-bedroom apartment. Thank you for this challenge.

Barbara keep on plowing through a little each day and you'll get it done before you know it. Even if it takes a few years. I've been working on mine for years too. I finally got a system in place that will get it done sooner. Join in any time along the way.
Marie I got your email sign-up and sent you the pdf file worksheet. Thanks so much for joining in.

I have decided that the first room with be the bedroom. It is where I store all the stuff I wish to donate. It has one closet, two dressers and an old trunk full of fabric. The trunk is piled high with blankets and rugs which can go elsewhere. I believe this is a good choice.
I'll download pictures later. This laptop refuses to do it and so many other things.

Here are the pictures I promised:
Note the pile of blankets piled up beyond the dresser. Those are all sitting on a sea chest full of fabric.
This is my side of the room. The manikin with the nightgown on it has been waiting 4 or 5 years for a make-over.

I think I'll join in too! :) I'm always up for more organizing!!!
I've actually been working on just that in our bedroom this month and really appreciate living without the clutter in that room!!! Setting a timer is a GREAT way to tackle the big jobs that just sit there staring at you.
I also try to use down time - waiting rooms, lines, etc. to just think about the spaces in question. Am I using it efficiently? What do I do in that space? Would it be easier to clean if I stored certain items in that room or closer by? Could I move where certain things live to a different area? Visualizing what I want to do makes it easier for me to jump in.
If I had a really big job to tackle I would have bags, boxes with me - 1 for trash, 1 for donations, 1 for things that belong elsewhere.
I've found that assigning everything a "home" can be the biggest challenge. If it doesn't have a home, it's going to be clutter. In my experience anyway! lol |

Three boxes going to the St Vincent DePaul's Thrift Store.
This is all stuff from the two dressers, my closet and a few other things I thought I was going to fix.
