Well hubby and I decided that we would just go ahead and move out to the property this past weekend! Mostly so we can keep working on getting things done easier. Our house is sold but we are waiting on the financing process for the buyer.

We had problems right off the bat. My brother wired up the RV electrical box wrong and so it burned out the inverter on our travel trailer when we plugged it in. We had to pay nearly $400 to get a new one and that is just the inverter. We put it in ourselves. We are hoping by chance that the warranty will cover it but we dont think it will. So there goes money that we had put aside for our well house and septic system.

We did get the floor poured for the well house yesterday. So that was a good start on something. We had to run waterhoses for about 250 feet to fill up our travel trailer with water and have enough to mix our concrete.

I still have a lot of packing to do before we can move out of our current house so I will have to spend a lot of time in the next few weeks doing that. But it is nice to be staying out at new property and getting a feel for the place!

Hooray for you Shelle. It seems like sooooo much work, but you will love it when you are moved.
Notice I did not say done,,,,like one is ever finished...
If I was closer, I would come and help...REALLY. I just helped a friend here move. They bought a house, but it needed painting and we made nights out of it.

I like the way your mb and kitchen & utility room & dining room and mb bath are all laid out. It makes MUCHO sense! My house is set up like yours, but it's dorked up because just imagine the mast bath, closet, utility room all smooshed farther over and invading the kitchen space and you've got my house! It cuts up our space so strangely. Really impractical.

And I love that your great room is nice and big! Great open plan. Ours is cut in half as they chopped it up to make an extra bedroom. So, we have very tiny entryway. Our livingroom scale is reduced. Yours is good!

I really like your floorplan!!! : )

We got a trailer ourselves this past week and it turned out to not have working brakes. Nearly killed ourselves trying to tow it. So we had it towed and delivered by the RV guys and set up on the property. I'm sure we'll have more problems with it before we are ready to live in it. I'll have to make sure we're extra careful with the wiring...

So how did it feel to be out there? I'm envious - we won't be out there ourselves for a few more weeks at the earliest...

Thanks so much for all the well wishes!!!

It feels great being out there! We found out this weekend that the house we are wanting will take at least 6 months before it is in production again. So that means "roughing it" in the travel trailer for longer than I thought we would need to. But hubby likes that it will take that long because it means that we will be able to save more money since we wont have a house payment for awhile. We should have the well ready for us to hook into directly in the next few days too. The next big project after packing up our house is the septic tank. We are also going to either sod or plant grass in the front and back yard of where the house will sit.

I guess I might as well try planting myself the herb garden that I have wanted for so long. I was going to wait until next fall but I will probably just go ahead and do a raised bed of some sort if I can figure that out. I will need something to occupy myself with not having a big house to upkeep for awhile!

Congrats! I so happy for you! Are you taking photos as you progress? It might be fun to make a scrapbook of the whole process. Big hugs, Lu

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! Bluewrenn do you have a date when you will be out at your property? I am happy for you too! How long do you expect to be living in your trailer? I think we will be in ours about 5-6 months. The hardest part about getting the trailer ready was to not over pack but to get everything we needed at the same time. I plan on putting some of our stuff that I think we may need in the near future close to the front of the storage building so that it will be easy to access.

Hope you get to get those goats!!
