Kelly, I have your address already so we are set.

Lenora , I sent you my address . I did get confused that we were partners and realize now that the round robin system indicates that I send to Kelly instead. Sorry for the confusion!!!!!!!

Farmgirls, why is it that I ALWAYS trip up on the round robin partner system?? I sent Lenora 3 emails trying to untangle my message!! Poor thing, ,she deserves an extra treat from Santa!!LOL!!! But I now have it straight who sends what to whom! Oy, getting old has it's challenges!! LOL!!!

Oh by gosh by golly, it's getting time for mistletoe and holly!!

I am just now getting back to my computer after some Nana duty! Did everyone get this straight as far as shipping and partners??

7) Connie aka Killarny TO Joyce aka GinghamGirl
8) Joyce aka GinghamGirl TO Marie aka Churunga

I will ask on my next swap to designate if you are willing to ship to Canada. Sadly, I too have trouble with the expense of shipping to Canada. I am sorry Canada Farmgirls for this inconvenience. Any ideas on how to remedy this situation when it comes to the expense of mailing swaps to Canada???????

I have shipped to Canada on several occasions. Here is what I have done to keep it affordable. Keep in mind that for a price around $10.00. the package needs to be able to go First Class International. That means you have to keep the weight down to UNDER 4 pounds. The PACKAGE MUST BE FLAT. I have found that a padded envelope, size 6" x 9.25" will work as long as you keep the weight limit. Many simple handmade items will fit, tea bags, lovely cards, and other light and simple items. Dont try and send candy or any liquids. If your items need a box, then the cost goes up considerably. The same applies from Canada to US and I have always received lovely swaps coming to me. Just think light, small and simple. For this swap, I would maybe make a cute small stocking ornament and put some flat little items in it. Then use the rest of the space for other light flat items. If you put your Farmgirl thinking cap on, you will come up with a lovely and fun way to manage within the cost and size limit. Just remember that the less it weighs, the more reasonable the final cost. And don't exceed the size limit of your envelope as that registers a higher cost. It is challenging but also fun and very easy.

One more tip. Your package will require the Customs form. You will find those forms in the USPS where they keep lots of other forms that one fills out for special requests. Complete your custom form before you get in line for help. If it isn't done already, the agent will send you back to fill it out first. If the line is long, you end up back at the end with another long wait.

How about the flat rate boxes? Will those work to Canada?

Marie, I don't think the pricing on US flat rate boxes applies to International shipping rates. Go to the USPS site and look up under International shipping and it will give you all of the flat rates available. If my memory is correct, it is way more expensive. International First Class rate will be your best bet to keep your price down to around $10-12 dollars.

Flat rate boxes are much more expensive to send to Canada. You can now do a customs form online at USPS, print out the required number of forms and take with you to the post office. If you do the click and ship you can even pay for it online and just drop off at you post office. The last time I mailed to Canada, my box weighed 3.9 lbs. and it was about $27.00. It is fun to get creative to halo keep the cost down.

Julie, it has also been my experience that anything in a box will cost way more than in a small padded envelope, referred to as a flat. I agree that the USPS site is wonderfully helpful; too. I personally use their Click and Ship ioption with US flat rate boxes. It makes it so easy.

I have mailed to Canada several times. Winnie and Julie, your are correct! the flat rate boxes are more than double to Canada. It just takes a little creativity to pack an envelope or box, we are farmgirls, we can figure it out!
I miss Judy Zobell- Country Treasure, SK Canada. We exchanged a lot of cards and packages too. Peggy Ann and I think she moved to Australia to be closer to her kids.

I am so happy all of this is working out for everyone! I have been working on my stocking for Lenora and have her name embroidered on it! I am using a stocking pattern from my Grandmother. She has been gone for over 20 years and I am privileged to have so many of her patterns and quilting patterns!

I am struggling with the pattern for the knitted stocking I am making. It seems as if no store around here has the needles I need. I will have to order them online I guess.

My sister knits and has all kinds of needles! That is one thing I have not learned. I learned this year to crochet watching a youtube video, mind you I don't know but a couple of stitches; but I was able to crochet a blanket for my preemie granddaughter!!

Hope you find the needles you are looking for!! Yall be sure and post pics of your stockings!! I love seeing all the creativity!!

Marie...don't let that stress you out! It won't make the project fun for you! And having started this Swap years ago...it is suppose to be ALL ABOUT THE FUN!
Just go purchase a Store Bought Stocking and Glam it up a little bit with Christmas Stuff around your house. Don't waist your time on ordering knitting needles
etc. because those are the things that cause one to get their Swap in late or they give up completely and don't even do it and send one. Then the only thing
you end up making is excuses and apologies. KEEP IT SIMPLE AND FUN GIRLS! NOT EVERYTHING has to be HOME-MADE at this most hectic time of The Year!!!!

Hope this helps Everyone!!!

Love and Hugs,
Peggy
