This past fall I made 2 batches of calendula cream with some ingredients from my yard.Basic ingre. were calendula flowers, comfrey root and leaves, cottonwood oil, olive oil, coconut oil and beeswax. I started using a store-bought product years ago. When my son was little,he had "cradle cap". I used that on his head and it cleared up.When my daughter was a baby, she had a weeping rash under her fat chin. The calendula salve worked wonders on that.I finally got around to making my own batch. I use it on my dry scalp, for scraps and scratches, and such. Its great for kids' owies(sp)I would like to offer it to anyone interested.I put the salve in tiny canning jars but they are still pretty big,it should last a long time. The cottonwood is a poplar tree.My grandma used to collect the spring buds and make a burn salve with it. The smell is wonderful.Oh,for Spring.Come soon! |

Dorothy, Where did you find the Cottonwood Oil? I've never seen that one. Did you distill it yourself? I just remembered that I went on an herb walk last summer and the herbalist said that the Cottonwood was wonderful for healing.

Yes,trading sounds exciting! Across the country my calendula cream goes! I'll send it out and if you like it I'll send the recipe. My friend makes all kinds of oils with a press he made. Balm Bud Salve is made with cottonwood. It is good for burns. The smell of spring comes with cottonwood buds opening in the hot sun....oh to dream still but March winds I hear. |

Dorothy, what is the price of your cream? It sounds really great! If you have other recipes maybe you could make a recipe book and sell those also, that would be neat. Any ways, I'm really interested in your cream. Does it have to stay refrigerated? ~~Blessings, Mikki

yes,I would recommend that it be refrigerated. There's that oil in it and it might not be so greasy if it's chilled. I think I'll ask $9.00 per jar.I would also do trades. |

If you add corn starch to your salve, it won't be as greasy feeling.
